Sehun spends a good portion of the afternoon doing his homework. All things considered, he decides that when he sees Luhan again, he really will confess again. He can only imagine the older man’s adorable surprise at finding out that Sehun actually likes him, too. Will they kiss? That would certainly be nice.
Yes, he’ll confess. But what comes after that? Will they start dating? Sehun has a bit of experience, thanks to his (bitch of an) ex-girlfriend. But is dating a guy any different than dating a girl? Well, he can think of one area that will definitely be different....
Cheeks flushing light red, he returns to his homework.
Ok, he thinks, I’ll confess the next time I see Luhan.
Except after that morning, he doesn’t see Luhan. Not later that day, not the next day, nor the day after that. It seems the older boy is even avoiding their poetry class, to which Sehun grudgingly swears not to help him catch up the work when he comes back.
His first worry is that perhaps Luhan is sick. He discards that idea straight away, though, since the older boy has yet to show his face at their dorm room.
So he’s just avoiding seeing Sehun, then? Is that it? Because no matter how hard he searches, he can’t seem to find Luhan. He’s not in the lounge, nor the cafeteria. Sehun even walks down to the cafe to look for him but with no luck. He waits around at each possible place that Luhan would visit, but the older boy never shows up.
He’s beginning to become frantic. Where could Luhan have gone? Is this because Sehun didn’t just tell him how much he fucking adores him and how he makes him feel so fucking good and goddammit, he was such a good cuddler, too.
“Can you believe he just disappeared like that?” he vents to Baekhyun while they’re hanging out in the lounge, doing homework. It’s been a whole week since Luhan vanished, and Sehun’s getting to the point of severe withdrawal symptoms. “And I can’t find him anywhere! But he had to have come back to our room to get clothes or whatever- he must have done it when I was in class or something!”
“I don’t know, man,” Baekhyun says with a shrug, “Maybe he went back to China.” He coughs when Sehun gives him a crestfallen look, “Joke, that was a joke.” He sighs, running a hand through his hair. “Do you think maybe he’s staying with another person? He might be in one of the other dorm rooms.” Sehun goes to start the next math problem but stops, thinking, then stares at his friend.
“You know,” he mumbles, blushing slightly, “I didn’t think of that.” Baekhyun rolls his eyes.
“Jesus christ, Sehun, if I didn’t know any better, I would think you like-” he stops mid-sentence, his eyes widening when he sees Sehun’s expression. “Ohmygod, Sehun, you do like him, don’t you!”
“Be quiet, OK!” Sehun mutters blush concurring his entire face as he punches Baekhyun’s arm.
“Wow, wow, of all the people who could have turned gay-” the older boy starts, but Sehun is elbowing him in the gut. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry! Can’t say I didn’t see it coming, though,” Baekhyun winks and dodges more attacks from Sehun.
“Just, shut up,” the younger boy seethes, wondering why he thought it would be a good idea to tell fucking Baekhyun.
“So why’s he ignoring you, then?” the older boy asks, tapping his pencil against the math homework that he still hasn’t started.
“I don’t know,” Sehun admits after a full minute of frowning at Baekhyun. “I mean...” he hesitates, “It probably has to do with how I accidentally hit on him and then, thanks to you, he thinks I’m... you know, straight.” He glares as Baekhyun snorts.
“I’m sorry! But seriously, this is priceless,” the older boy says, trying to hold back his laughter. “You accidentally hit on him???”
“This is serious!” Sehun exclaims, blushing even more brightly as he folds his arms. “I really hate you.”
“I’m sorry! I promise I won’t laugh anymore!” Baekhyun says. He waits a second before asking, “So how long have you liked him?” Sehun’s eye twitches.
“I don’t know,” the younger boy mumbles, biting his bottom lip. “Probably… since… the first week of class.” He pounds a fist on the table when Baekhyun snickers. “I swear I’m never going to talk to you again.”
“I’m really sorry!” Baekhyun says, obviously still fighting back laughter.
“No you’re not,” Sehun responds.
“You’re right, I’m not,” the older boy laughs.
“I don’t know why I’m friends with you,” Sehun shakes his head, making to get up.
“Wait! I was gonna offer to try and help you find him!” his friend exclaims, successfully stopping him.
“Really,” Sehun says.
“Really,” Baekhyun nods.
“How?” Sehun sits back down, folding his arms and giving Baekhyun a hard stare.
“Well, can you think of anyone he might be staying with? One of his other friends, maybe?” the older boy asks.
Sehun frowns for a moment. The only friend of Luhan’s that he has ever met is Yixing, and yes, come to think of it, Luhan had been talking pretty animatedly to the other right before he’d up and left. Could that have been what they had talked about? Luhan staying in Yixing’s room, because wow, that thought really pisses Sehun off.
“Well, there is one person,” he says. “Yixing? I don’t know his last name, but he’s a Chinese exchange student.” Baekhyun’s eyes light up.
“I know him!” he grins, and Sehun heartbeat quickens. “I don’t know his room number, but I have a friend who would know. Give me a minute and I’ll text him.” Sehun watches Baekhyun take out his phone and rapidly type out a message.
Could this be the lead Sehun has been waiting for? And if he does find Luhan staying in Yixing’s room, what is he going to do?
Oh what the fuck, he thinks, I’ll figure that out when it comes.
“Score!” Baekhyun declares triumphantly, pumping a fist victoriously into the air. “Kris does know Yixing’s room number!” Sehun doesn’t even know this Kris person, but right now he wishes he could hug him. “Alright, here it is,” Baekhyun shows Kris’ reply with the digits to the room. Sehun memorizes it instantly.
“Perfect. Thanks,” he tells Baekhyun. No point in sitting around here anymore. If Luhan really is staying with Yixing, which Sehun really, really, really hopes he is, now has come the time to settle things. Without a second thought, he hurls his stuff into his bag and hurries out of the lounge.
“Good luck,” Baekhyun calls after him.
Sehun jogs through the hallways of the dorm, searching desperately for Yixing’s room. He’s not really thinking, just letting his legs carry him and hoping that Luhan will be there.
Fuck, if Luhan isn’t there, he’ll be back at square one again, and he really doesn’t know anyone else that Luhan would stay with. But Jesus christ, there really was a possibility that he actually had gone back to China and Sehun was not ready to consider that yet.
After a few minutes, he recognizes the room numbers and stops, panting slightly, right outside. He leans toward the door and listens intently, praying to hear two voices. There is one voice, which he can tell belongs to Yixing, and after a moment- bingo, Sehun smiles.
Luhan is there.
Not waiting to catch his breath, he knocks (rather loudly) on the door. There is a pause before he hears someone approach, and Yixing hardly has enough time to open the door before Sehun barges in.
Luhan is seated on the floor, a textbook in front of him and a notebook in his lap. He is in the middle of saying something, but when he looks up and sees Sehun standing there, he gapes, his mouth hanging open in disbelief and blush coloring his cheeks. If Sehun had bothered to turn and look at Yixing, he would have seen the older man shake his head, smiling knowingly at him and Luhan.
“S-Sehun, why-?” Luhan begins to ask, but Sehun has already crossed the room, grabbed hold of his wrist, and yanked him back out the door. The younger boy feels Luhan struggle as he is led down the hallway, but Sehun does not loosen his grip until the two are safely inside their own dorm room.
“Jesus, Sehun, what the hell-?” Luhan begins again, but Sehun has absolutely zero patience and he’s already crashed their lips together, swiping his tongue inside of Luhan’s mouth. The older boy’s eyes grow significantly wider, and he falls completely limp with surprise.
Sehun pulls away after a moment, afraid he’s going to pass out due to lack of air and holy shit Luhan’s lips against his. The older boy just stares, his face growing progressively redder with each passing second and it’s apparent that any thought of speaking has been discarded.
“Stop- just, please, please stop avoiding me,” Sehun manages to say after he’s taken a minute to catch his breath. “I can’t fucking stand it!” he exclaims frustratedly, stomping a foot on the ground. “What did I do wrong? Is it because you have it in your head that I’m straight? Because Jesus christ, you never even asked, and why the fuck do you think I was laying in your bed when you woke that time?” He’s doing his best to put together coherent thoughts but everything is sort of piling up into one mess and he doesn’t even know what he’s saying anymore.
“Ugh, I really fucking can’t with you,” he growls, running a hand through his hair in annoyance as he paces away from Luhan. “You’re being such a fucking kid about this! Would it have killed you to ask me? I mean, I get it, you’re afraid of rejection or what the fuck ever, but seriously, we went on a fucking date and I fucking slept in your bed with you and all you can do is fucking run away because you indirectly hear that I might be interested in vag!” Luhan chokes and coughs, his face impossibly red at this point.
Sehun lets out a sound that’s a mix between a hiss and a bark before continuing. “First you have me believing you’re a fucking angel sent from the fucking heavens with your stupid perfect smile and your stupid perfect voice and your stupid perfect everything, and fuck how am I supposed to believe you’re older than me when you act like this? I can’t believe I even love you this much because Jesus christ, all you’ve done is make my life a living hell!” Sehun shakes his head, sighing loudly.
“Do you know what I went through when you were drunk? How many fucking times I told you I loved you because you wouldn’t fucking believe me? You practically forced yourself on me and I wasn’t even going to complain because, wow, what a coincidence, I fucking love you.”
“I-I did w-what?” Luhan squeaks, cupping his hands over his mouth while, if possible, his face becomes even redder. Sehun finally has his breath back and oh god, what the hell has he been saying.
“It doesn’t even matter anymore,” he sighs, feeling his own cheeks growing warm, “you won’t even be in the same room as me.”
There is a moment of pause, Luhan staring at Sehun while the younger boy looks at the ground. Finally, when it’s apparent that Luhan won’t say any more, Sehun raises his gaze.
“After all this time, you didn’t... you didn’t even consider that I might love you back?” he asks in a mumble. Now that his temper has cooled, he’s feeling nervous and embarrassed and fuck what if he imagined everything and Luhan actually doesn’t love him and he just made a complete fool of himself-
“I don’t know,” Luhan interrupts Sehun’s thoughts, biting his bottom lip. “Sure I imagined, but I figured that was just it; my imagination.” He swallows, still blushing furiously. “I just didn’t... I don’t know, I really didn’t think you could possibly... love someone like me...” he finishes quietly, and goddammit why does he have to be so fucking cute all the fucking time. Luhan with his stupid perfection and Jesus christ did he really say “someone like me” because if anyone should be saying that line it’s Sehun.
“Are you stupid?” Sehun asks, smiling softly when Luhan cringes. In a few steps he closes the little amount of distance between the two of them and lifts a hand to gently ruffle Luhan’s hair. “Even your imagination is a possibility.” And wow, that came out a lot cornier than he meant, but Luhan is grinning shyly, so he guesses it’s OK.
“So you… really… you really love me?” Luhan asks hesitantly, wrapping his arms around Sehun’s waist and pulling his closer. What is breathing, the younger boy wonders seriously.
It takes him a moment of bliss to remember that he’s supposed to respond when someone asks a question. “Do I really need to say it again?” he sighs, raising an eyebrow when Luhan pouts. He really hates when the older boy does that.
“I love you, Luhan,” he says before Luhan has a chance to speak again, leaning forward to press their lips together. “I love you and your stupid perfect smile and your stupid perfect voice and your stupid childish antics.” Luhan blushes brightly once again. “I love you… my angel,” Sehun finishes, and yes, um, that was meant to be corny but fuck, it sounded a lot sweeter in his head.
Luhan just beams at him. “I love you, too, Oh Sehun,” he murmurs, and as if those words weren’t enough to give Sehun a heart attack, the older boy kisses him again, this time more deeply than before.
Tongues tangle inside mouths and fingers tangle into hair as Sehun grips the back of Luhan’s head. They’re backing up against the wall, and Luhan is finding the hem of Sehun’s shirt and feeling underneath, his touch like ice against Sehun’s hot skin. The younger boy is certain his heart is going to beat its way out of his chest as Luhan kisses along his jaw, nibbling tenderly at the soft skin of his neck. Sehun lets out a moan as Luhan nibbles a bit too hard, and fuck, he thinks, that’s going to leave a mark isn’t it.
But if he has to describe this feeling with one word, it would be ecstasy. And if he’s speaking honestly, he wouldn’t give a damn if they just stripped each other and fucked right now. However, they are interrupted by a polite knock at the door.
They break apart, panting loudly, and Sehun straightens his shirt as Luhan takes a deep breath and goes to answer it. Yixing stands outside, smiling, with Luhan’s school bag and other things in his arms. Sehun curses under his breath while Luhan smiles and shakes his head.
“You forgot your stuff,” Yixing says.
After that day, Sehun and Luhan become almost inseparable. They do their homework together, they eat lunch together, alternating between the cafe and the cafeteria, and if Sehun really thinks about it, not that much has changed.
Well, except that Luhan blushes three times as often and Sehun has come to terms with the fact that anything and everything he says around Luhan will sound completely retarded. They also kiss. A lot.
The two are working in the lounge one afternoon a few weeks later when Baekhyun introduces the two to Kris, a Chinese boy born in Canada who, like Luhan and Yixing, had come to South Korea to study. According to Baekhyun, he’d been there for about 2 years.
“So you’re the couple that I helped?” Kris asks, an eyebrow haphazardly lifted as he and Baekhyun join the two with their own work. Him and Sehun lock gazes and the younger boy immediately recognizes him from his first day on campus.
“Hey, you’re the-” he starts to say.
“And you’re-” Kris also says, and the two of them laugh. “I’m sorry about that time. I didn’t mean to act so rudely, I just assumed you were one of those annoying freshmen who only came to this college for the rumor of the parties.” Sehun snorts.
“Yeah, that’s OK. I’ll gladly inform you that parties are the last thing on my list of things to accomplish while in college,” he says, and Kris laughs again.
“Wait a minute, Wufan, you and Sehun met before?” Baekhyun asks interestedly. Kris gives him an annoyed look.
“Do I need to start calling you “bacon” just so that you’ll remember to call me Kris?” he says. “And yes, I guess you could say we met.”
“I was trying to ask him where the dorms were,” Sehun tells his friend, “But he glared at me so hard I thought I would shit myself, so I ended up leaving him alone.” Kris blushes lightly as Baekhyun bursts out laughing.
“Was it really that bad? I didn’t notice,” Kris says apologetically. “I’m sorry.”
“Yeah, don’t worry, his face is kind of permanently stuck like that,” Baekhyun adds, ignoring the death glare Kris gives him.
“It’s fine,” Sehun shrugs, holding back a smile. Then he feels Luhan’s arms around his waist as the older boy hugs him from behind.
“Sehunnie, let’s go back to our room,” Luhan says quietly into Sehun’s ear. “I don’t feel like working out here anymore.” The younger boy regretfully realizes that Luhan has been excluded from the conversation, and is he jealous because dammit, he’s way too fucking cute for his own good.
“Alright,” he replies softly, pecking Luhan on the lips before beginning to pack up his stuff.
“You guys are going?” Baekhyun asks, frowning when Sehun nods. “But we just got here...”
“Sorry, ‘bacon,’” Sehun says teasingly, smiling when Kris laughs and Baekhyun glares at him. “We’ll hang out with you guys another time.”
“Fine, fine, be that way,” Baekhyun sighs, shaking his head. “I guess I’ll just sit here and antagonize Wufan for a little bit.”
“You will not,” Kris says stiffly.
Sehun and Luhan bid the two friends goodbye before moving to the dorms with their things. Although, if Sehun had thought they were actually going to continue working, he was sorely mistaken.
Once inside their room, Luhan abandons his bag by the door and instantly closes the distance between him and Sehun, pressing their lips together. “Luhan, Luhan,” Sehun mutters into the older boy’s mouth, “Hold on, I need to-” He isn’t given enough time to finish because Luhan is deepening the kiss, moving the younger boy over to the bed and pushing him down onto it.
The room remains quiet, Luhan planting kisses all over Sehun’s face and jaw before he sucks at a particularly tender spot on Sehun’s neck, and the younger boy whimpers because wow, that felt really good, but then Luhan is blushing an entirely new shade of scarlet and hurriedly sitting up.
“Sorry,” he says in an annoyingly perfect mumble. “It’s just... You know... Um...” his voice trails off and Sehun also sits up, placing another gentle kiss against Luhan’s perfect lips.
“It’s fine,” he says, smiling. “I just wasn’t prepared.” Luhan frowns in an oh-god-so-adorable way.
“Um, you,” he inhales and exhales, looking at Sehun before turning his gaze to the floor as if having seen something really interesting there, “You feel. Um. Really good.” Now it’s Sehun’s turn to blush brightly.
“Jesus christ,” he sighs, draping his arms over Luhan’s shoulders, “You’re really going to kill me one day.” Luhan gives him a confused look, but isn’t given any chance to respond because Sehun has already kissed him again.
So in the end, there really isn’t that much of a change. Luhan is still an angel, and Sehun is still an antisocial, awkward fuck with annoying tendencies to butcher whatever he tries to say. But maybe in that sense, they really compliment each other because it’s glaringly obvious that they are impossibly in love.
“So Minseok’s throwing another party,” Baekhyun says over lunch.
“Shut up,” Sehun says and kisses Luhan.
