Sis and I gave blood this morning, and someone finally told me I'm CMV negative, and that's why my
blood can be given to babies.
(Okay, now I have to pause and go into some weird vampire baby thing in my mind, stepping away from that.)
They used to make a big fuss of it, when I was first giving blood consistently, in my 20s, highlighting the code on my paperwork, but their procedures changed and they stopped mentioning it, but I guess it's still a thing, here 30ish years later, that I am in the 15% of adults who never had cytomegalovirus.
(Why yes, I am ignoring the gastroenterologist who told me not to give every time I'm eligible. I am following his instruction to take iron twice a day, so yay?)
Anyway, feels good to do it and to have that extra 'really good blood!' label. And now Purrcy has crawled into my lap, he's such a sweet cat. But time to give him my chair and have some lunch.
