IT'S HARD!!!! My two favorites (...Chanyeol and Chen) are spread across the two too.
I HADN'T THOUGHT ABOUT THAT SUHO BUT I SEE IT, now that you mention it. K kind of seems like... a band full of frontdudes, they all have that ~traditionally handsome~ kind of vibe.
CHANYEOL!! His face is so amusing, he's gonna be a good troll. And Chen has such a great voice. I hope they will just give up at some point in the next 6 months and let them promote together in Korea.
Yeah K seems a bit stronger in terms of performance! Kai has a lot of presence. So far, they are both kind of mediocre.. but they have talent.. Idk, what do you think?

Like okay not to get absurdly wordy and overinvested on you (except ofc that is what I am about to do) but I feel like with SM bands the formations of the choreography are really specifically molded to the band/the specific members... besides who's singing what and when and dance ability, I honestly think height and popularity are taken into account when choreographers are working (maybe moreso with Suju and SNSD, where there are more bad dancers and more places to "hide" people), but you... can't really do that when you're working with two bands at once that are also kind of basically the same band???? I... JUST... I don't know. I remember making a :| face when I first read the China/Korea plan and even though I feel that way less now that they are a tangible thing it's still... awkward

but you... can't really do that when you're working with two bands at once that are also kind of basically the same band??? woooord
I remember making a :| face when I first read the China/Korea plan and even though I feel that way less now that they are a tangible thing it's still... awkward.Yes, I feel like is creates like an immediate and inherent inequality between the groups. Not that the kids have any choice but promoting in China gives them less exposure and less fame. And plus they were all training in Korea and expecting to become kpop idols, not living that (esp for Chen and Xiumin WHO ARE KOREAN) dream makes me really sad for them. It's not even like 2pm/2am (where seriously like 2pm is more popular but 2am isn't exactly suffering..) I sound like a really crazy fangirl right now but we both know that it's not bc we like EXO that much it's because we like analyzing this stuff hahaha

And plus they were all training in Korea and expecting to become kpop idols, not living that (esp for Chen and Xiumin WHO ARE KOREAN) dream makes me really sad for them. YES, ALL OF THIS. Especially since SM has never achieved real success while promoting in China (idk, I don't really know anything about how well Zhang Liyin did/sold there but presumably if she'd done really well commercially in China SM would be using her more?). I know "success in China" is what they're (optimistically) going for with Exo-M -- a band promoting there full time, with more Chinese skillz than Super Junior M, but if that's what they wanted it's frankly pretty cheap of them to try and get more bang out of their buck by making them "share" their singles with a Korean band (especially since a lot of SJM/SM's market in China is Chinese kpop fans). BECAUSE YEAH, it already kind of sucks that they're not getting to be ~kpop~ stars like they were training to be

IKRRRRR. Just like China is not very relevant in terms of cultural capital in the world music scene like for example they asked EXO-M who their favorite mainland Chinese artists were and Xiumin was like JJ Lin (who is from Singapore) and Jay Chou (who is Taiwanese). Like I don't even know who is popular in China.. their music industry is extremely saturated and there's no like go-to star like Jay or like Rain. I'm still hoping Hang Geng is gonna change that.. I don't know about Zhang Liyin (honestly, I don't know what her, Henry and Zhoumi do all day in Korea.. it must be kind of fun though!)
it's frankly pretty cheap of them to try and get more bang out of their buck by making them "share" their singles with a Korean band exactly! That's why I get so annoyed when they promote in Japan with their Korean singles in Japanese.. SNSD only got their like first japanese single (like that wasn't a korean song already) this year! I am waiting for shinee to bloom soon but srsly it'd be nice if they could promote an all-new song that wasn't
( ... )
Yeah :/ I mean it's one thing to tell your artists they're going to promote in China when they've already gotten to do Korea, and another to only have them in China.
(honestly, I don't know what her, Henry and Zhoumi do all day in Korea.. it must be kind of fun though!) I would kill to be a part of that posse, ngl.
Oh my god SERIOUSLY, I can kind of deal with one remake as a "Japanese debut" but the number of songs people re-release is insane and irritating. And like, at least when SNSD was throwing those out they were also still doing (new) stuff in Korea?? But shinee was in Japan for FOREVER and it sucks that they don't have any new material to show for it.
HIS HAIR WAS OUT OF CONTROL, it was amazing. (He was the dude in the Japanese Genie mv!)
I WAS GOING TO MAKE FUN OF THEIR HIPSTER GLASSES BUT I GUESS THAT'S ACTUALLY PRETTY BLAND FOR SM STYLING
so I am just going to say they are adorable and then go track down those mini albums.
they are all presh though. Suho is giving me serious Taecyon/Siwon/Seungho vibes with all that smiling. Biases revealed.
