Movie Night

I've just watched "J'ai tué ma mère" (I killed my mother), written, directed by Xavier Dolan (he's the main character too).
It's a love/hate story between mother and son.

First impressions: wow. Good story, great directing, amazing actors. I was really feeling for something like that tonight. It's poetic and oh so realist at the same time. It's raw, and at the same time, light. It's simple, with no big effects, but they played brilliantly with the décor. Some times, while watching, I had the feeling I was Hubert (main character), or some other time another one. Plus, Dolan wasn't even supposed to be the director, but when they had too much problem with the founding (the governments didn't seem to be keen on helping financially), the director backed out, and Dolan had to step up to that role. In the end, he used all (or almost) his money saved from his days as a child actor.

As I said, the actors are amazing. Xavier Dolan and Anne Dorval (who played the mother) are simply breathtaking. It's no secret how much I love Anne Dorval, she's a real sunshine every time we saw her in an interview. But gd god can she act!

I'm looking forward for his next project. (which he talk about a little bit on a show at the  New Year's Eve. The movie will be about a love triangle, in which a girl and a guy are in love with the same guy).

Good Night everyone. Have a nice weekend!

PS. Hooo, last night I watched "Les doigts croches" (Sticky fingers) too. Another quebec movie with Roy Dupuis and Claude Legault and other good actors. Not the greatest film, but quite entertaining and funny. It did the job of changing my mind.

(sorry about no lj cut. Either LJ hates me,, again, or my parent's internet connection sucks, again.)
