Summer bliss

Jul 22, 2011 21:48

We had leftover bread and tomatoes and are lucky enough to have Trader Joe's nearby that sells basil plants for $3... so we had panzanella for dinner. (I'm eating wheat again until my blood test at the beginning of August). That taste is pure summer to me. We took it to the park-- I still can't get over that it's in my backyard-- and sat on a blanket and laid and looked up into the trees. I needed that so badly. Just being with my family feels like such a blessing right now.

Oh, and we met a little girl named Esme who is Sophie's verbal double. It was seriously surreal to see them make the same hand gestures, say the same things. The only difference is that Esme has an older brother and so she's fearless, unlike my baby who just finally decided to even get on the merry-go-round by herself a few months ago. She lives in SE so they won't see each other all the time but I foresee a fun friendship.

quality time, family, friends, sophie
