What do I do with this one?

I don't know what to do about our cat.

We got her when she was a kitten, through one of the local adoption places, and she was pretty crazy then. It took about five years to soften her up. And then we had a child. And then we got a dog. The dog was the real issue. She hates him.

Now add to the mix that we've been bringing a little kitten inside intermittently because he's friends with Henry and it's been soooo cold and wet. They wrestle and it's hilarious. But Megumi likes him about as much as she likes Sophie-- she'll tolerate his presence but rarely warms.

Clearly, though, either the introduction of Alvin (the kitten) or the level of stress in our house is affecting her more than just on the surface because she's peed on my bed twice in the last week. And both times have been in the place where she normally snuggles at night. I know that it's not a UTI because 7 days in between? C'mon. And last night, she had to have done in the middle of the night. While I was sleeping. Because I woke up to cat pee right by my face.

The truth is that she doesn't really fit into our life very well anymore. And part of me says, "Just wait a few months until you're in the house." Then she'll have a lot more spots to claim as hers. But... I feel bad for her. She doesn't get the constant love and attention that she did before we had Sophie. She's not really happy with us. But would she be happier someplace else or just feel abandoned?

Let's just hope the peeing stops now that I put the x-nay on the itten-k.
