I'm in a happy pace. It all started with drills last Thursday evening. Irina had us do 1000's with 1000 run in between repeats. Yep, you read that right...no recovery, more running after the repeat. All out for 1000, then slow to an 8 min/mi pace....4 times. The goal was to do the fast repeats at 4 minutes and the run repeats in 5 minutes, but I ended up in the 4:04 to 4:27 range on the fasts and 5:01 to 5:17 on the run repeats - 37:47 for the 5 mile workout, I was happy. I think Irina tends to set our goal paces for a little faster than what she expects because she was thrilled with my times....even though they were slightly off the goal.
I was definitely in a happy pace on Saturday morning for the T3 ride out on Mopac. We did 3 loops for about 25 miles and Chicqilo and I averaged a 19 mph pace, what?! I was fired up about that! Maybe all of the sweatin' in the spin classes at the T3 PTC is paying off. I love it!
And, last but not least, this morning....how could you not be in a happy pace getting a run started with a beautiful sunrise and temps in the low 60's?! I ran down to the trail and did a Congress loop and a First St. loop for a total of 13.94 miles in 2:01 (8:42 min/mi). Sweet! I saw lots of familiar faces on the trail which made my run extra fun...what a great morning. When I got in from my run I hit the chocolate milk with a little protein powder to get the recovery going...what a difference it makes! I did some stretching, chores around the house, then decided I was feeling fresh enough to get some core in at an afternoon Body Pump class - amazing! I do have to admit that when we hit the squat track I could actually hear my quads say, "Are you effing serious?!"....but I just pushed through and embraced the burn....ahhh!
