It's Log, Log, it's big, it's heavy, it's wood.
It's Log, Log, it's better than bad, it's good!
Remember ‘Log’ from Ren and Stimpy?! Well, the little tag theme that goes with it, see above, has been running through my head every time I try to use my logs….I mean, legs. Yeah, after my little rant about how great they were feeling last week, I think Thursday’s drills did ‘em in since they’ve been pretty tight and sore ever since.
I had a good swim workout on Monday morning. We did 6 descending 100’s , i.e. get faster with each 100. In the final, faster repeats Chrissie told me to use my legs more…if only they didn’t feel like big ole logs, then maybe I could have gotten more speed from them. I managed to get my kick going a little faster and ended up with a 1:42 as my fastest 100 - hmm, I’d really like to get that down to 1:40.
I managed to get in the 8x’s uphill repeats that Irina suggested for my Monday run workout. It was pretty tough to get out there mentally since my legs were screaming for a massage and had no interest in sprinting uphill, but the weather was so nice I decided to suck it up and get it done…and that’s what I did. Surprisingly the legs started to loosen up a bit, so it wasn’t all bad.
I ran a 28:17 on the 3.5 mile route through the Spyglass hills on Tuesday morning and took the evening off to go to a meeting for work…fun times with a bunch of engineers hearing a talk about pipe bursting water lines! I made it to swim this morning and my legs felt normal…the true test will be my easy run this evening - we’ll see just how ‘easy’ it is!
