March 2012 in Bullet Points.

Me, introducing the actors and staff during Tingnan Na Ang Mukha Niya's curtain call.
This month, I...:
  • fell in love with Revolutionary Road the movie. It's now the only movie I have in my computer and I've also managed to get a soft copy of the actual screenplay. I have yet to check if it's in public domain. If it is, I am so going to adapt it for the stage as my thesis.
  • rekindled an old affair with the Leo-and-Kate ship (pun not intended). They're just so perfect together.
  • attended my first Dulaang UP cast party. Wasn't able to go to the Rizal X cast party last year because I fell asleep and woke up the next day.
  • had one heart-attack-inducing incident involving Ma'am Irma (a.k.a. theatre goddess). It was her second to the last show and 10 minutes before it started (which is equivalent to one breath in theatre), one of the backstage staff people approached me and told me to go to the drugstore because Ma'am Irma was having vertigo and she needed to take a certain medicine. May I just reiterate that it was TEN FRIGGIN' MINUTES to showtime... and going to and from the nearest drugstore would take at least fifteen. I literally felt as if the entire world was in my hands BECAUSE I COULD NOT ALLOW MY THEATRE HERO(INE) TO STEP ON STAGE KNOWING SHE WAS NOT IN GOOD SHAPE. My fangirl sensibilites were revolting at the mere thought and my theatre major persona was terrified to death of being skinned alive by Sir Tony. In the end, I was able to buy the medicine, but she was already halfway through her first scene when I arrived. Of course, she did a stellar job despite of how she was feeling; that's how amazing she is. As for me, I had to lie down in a corner because I literally almost blacked out from the magnificent combination of heat, exhaustion, nerves, and utter relief.
  • walked out of mass and haven't been back since. I love God and I want nothing to do with any institution that messes up His very essence.
  • binged on book-shopping: The Hunger Games Trilogy, A Dance With Dragons, The Monster of Florence, Bossypants, Little Bee, and The Sly Company of People Who Care. Almost finished reading half of A Dance and things are getting more exciting and screwed up than ever.
  • sold my iPod Nano through sulit.com.ph because I wanted to upgrade to an iPod Classic, but something came up so the new iPod would have to wait for now. It was also my first time to sell something over the Internet.
  • interviewed Kuya Bodjie for my Creative Drama for Children and the Youth class! And I learned something that almost tainted my childhood memories: He has a low tolerance to children. He said his involvement with youth-oriented shows was something he didn't choose; it just happened to him. "I was just another actor looking for a job," he said. According to him, he finds it funny that he got lined up with children's programs when the truth is his patience for kids is thin. Disillusioned yet? Hahaha! I'm kidding. I understand what he meant, of course. And this doesn't change the fact that he is one of my childhood television icons and idols.
  • conducted a creative drama workshop for private school teachers, among them actual, proper nuns. Have you seen two nuns fight over one man before? I bet you haven't. I have, and it was hilarious. (Obviously, they were only acting.)
  • watched the staging of a risque play written by a friend. And by risque I mean with-butt-exposure-and-explicit-homoerotic-full-on-kissing-scenes. One of the actors wore a pair of skintight boxers and... yes. Whatever you are thinking, the answer is yes.
  • almost died making my Creative Drama for Children and the Youth portfolio. It was worth it, though. I didn't expect to love that class as much as I did. :D
  • directed Nicolas Pichay's "Tingnan Natin Ang Mukha Niya" for our Theatre 110 final production. Our adviser wanted us to use a technically-challenging venue so I decided to do it on a stairwell. Blocking six people on such a relatively tiny space was mind-bending, but I actually enjoyed the process.
  • SURVIVED MY FIRST SEMESTER OF PRACTICUM!!! Three units down, six more to go!!! I am so grateful to Sir Ohm and my committee heads for being considerate of my schedule.
  • continued rehearsals for Papet Pasyon. SHOWTIME TOMORROW!!!
  • got a brand-new laptop care of an uncle's credit card. :D
  • became hooked on Robot Unicorn Attack, thanks to Rac.
  • found my perfect man. Marry me, Phillip! ("Erika Phillips" sounds so rockstar, no? Shet. Kinikilig ako.)

I feel like March was a surprisingly chill month compared to February. I'm not sure if it's because things were really not that stressful or if it's because of my attitude to it. I'd like to think it's the latter.

April is almost here already (Game of  Thrones Season 2 Premiere!!! Titanic 3D!!! Intermediate Acting class with Ma'am Jose!!! My 26th birthday!!! )! Can you believe it?!
