Title: Isolation
Fandom: Animorphs
Characters: Jake
Prompt: Learn to be lonely
Word Count: 230
Rating: PG
Summary: Jake's parents are starting to get suspicious of Tom.

Mom and Dad cannot know about Tom, ever. But it’s at times like these that I wish I could tell them.
“Jake, do you know what’s bugging your brother?” Tom had stormed out of dinner when they started asking casual questions about The Sharing.
Well, Mom, he has a yeerk in his head. That’s what’s wrong.
“Not sure.” I mumble. “He has been acting weird, though.”
“Has he told you anything about this new group of people he’s been hanging out with? They seem nice, but they don’t seem to be a good influence.”
No kidding, Dad. They’re really a group of aliens trying to take over the world. But I can’t be too suspicious of them. That would make Tom wary. And that would be bad. As in, Visser 3 finally clues into the fact that we're not andalites and tracking down and killing our families bad.
“They seem okay. But they’ve taking over his life.” I say.
They both nod.
They have no idea how true it is.
I have changed, too. Battles will do that to you.
Do they have these conversations about me? “Tom, what’s the matter with your brother? Why is always distracted?”
I would love to explain. But that would mean we’re in big trouble.
They don’t know me anymore-and I’m not sure I know them.
I am a stranger in my own home.
