Casey of the Canon:
I have a few problems with canon Casey. The first one, is that I don't feel like I know enough about him. A problem I don't have with Dan, for example. I know where Dan comes from, I know where he went to school, I know about his family, his religion, his political views, I have a pretty good idea what sort of person he is.
I do know is that Casey is 33, I know about his marriage (somewhat..), I know he has a son, I know he was offered to be a late night show host, and that he has some obscure history with Dana. I know he did some gymnastics in his past, and that he speaks four languages, but I don't feel like I know him.
Most of what I do know I don't like:
He slept with Sally for three months, without even liking her. Even after he knew she's slept with Gordon. He acted like an asshole on his date with pixley, and if that wasn't bad enough, he picked her up again, while he was on a date with another woman. That was awful.
But the worst part was how he treated Danny. Danny has been the most amazing friend to Casey, during his divorce, then through the whole Dana thing, and Casey never returned the favor.Not when Rebeca left, and not when Danny was begging for forgiveness.
also, I don't see self deprecation, as being one of Casey's qualities. I think there's more to the whole Late Night business. As much as I think there's more to Casey's divorce than Lisa's being a bitch.
The bottom line is, I think canon Casey is incredibly self centered.
Somehow though the fandom has created a whole new Casey

Fandom Casey is an uptight anal freak. But a lovable one. He's a supportive and a reliable friend. He sometimes suffers from a low self esteem. He's an amazing father. He's a geek and very uncertain around women. On the other hand he doesn't stress over his appearance his age or his uncoolness.
You gotta love Fandom Casey.
Now that I wrote it down, I realize I have no point. sorry. Just something to think about.
