So I'm back at school now. Finals...and two final presentations back-to-back on Tuesday! erk. My mom was kind of getting on my nerves this weekend, but she did get me some things to make life easier here, like new boots because of the snow, lots of coffee drinks, a scarf to go with the dress I'm going to wear to the winter formal, and a suitcase for some of my stuff. And we went to get coffee this afternoon, my gingerbread latte was good except there were these...bits...of some sort in the bottom. They had a strange strong flavor, like cinnamon or anise seed...and were just weird. So I was a little grossed out and threw the rest of it away.

Then I played around on my computer and listened to the radio count down the top hits from 1967 at this date. (I was raised on that stuff; my dad was a hippie, and I still really like it. When "Hotel California" came on, I turned it way up and sang along.)

Then I packed up my stuff, waited around for the V's (their son TV goes to my uni as well; they live in the same town as my family and our moms are friends,) because we were carpooling back to school. So TV, his girlfriend, and both of his parents (and all our stuff,) crammed into their van and started heading back to school. And the weather started getting REALLY bad. There are these amazing bluffs and scenic views near my school, but we could hardly see them because of all the blowing snow! And on the highway, everyone was driving VERY slowly and several cars were in the ditch, which made things a little scary, but TV and his girlfriend slept through it all. But when we got into town, he realised he'd left his overnight bag at home and needed to go to Target for a toothbrush, some toothpaste, and deodorant. They promised it wouldn't take long, but I later found everyone sidetracked by the book section! I don't blame them; I would have had the same thing happen to me! And then the natives were restless and hungry, so we went to Fazoli's, a nice place with mostly Italian food, sandwiches, and a really good bakery. And the V's footed the bill; I offered, but they refused. I guess I'm saving more of that $500 then. The entree was okay, the bread was great, and the cheese curds were good; also, it was remarkably fast.

Then TV helped me get all my stuff back to my dorm room, and I unpacked while watching the Simpsons, and called David and arranged to hang out at his dorm room because his roommate was out (I am also friends with his roommate, which can make things a little awkward.) David and I had really missed each other and were "catching up" *COUGH COUGH making out COUGH*, which was great, but then Cal, the roommate, showed up. Fortunately we were almost done, but we both had to throw our shirts back on and straighten up REALLY fast, and Cal could totally tell. He said "Hmm...door locked, sexy music on...I thought, maybe I should leave, but then I thought, nah, I'm going in anyway...so yeah, am I interrupting happy time?" It was pretty awkward, but I thought that comment was funny. :)

Then on the way back I tried to start a snowball fight, because the snow was perfect for it, but there was no one around! So I just went back to the dorm and checked my email. My roommate was watching a football game though, and I hate football, so I went down to the basement of my hall with a book (Stephen King's The Green Mile,) and $1.25, with which I bought some flavored water. No luck; a guy I knew and once had a really good philosophical discussion with was watching the game (turned up loud,) and trying to do math homework. So I tried to read for a bit and start a discussion with him, but it didn't really work. Since I didn't want to even see or hear ANY football, I went across the hall to M and L's (L's my resident assistant,) room; just M was there, and we watched a dumb Christmas movie, then L came back with a ROTC guy dressed in his uniform (I had to restrain myself from launching into an anti-Iraq-war diatribe and/or punching him,) and we all channel surfed, then watched Family Guy, and M made me some hot chocolate. She often misses the science class we have together, so I help her, lending her my notes and going over what we did, so I think she thinks she owes me. But really, she doesn't.

I saw how late it was getting and went back to my room, got ready for bed and for tomorrow, and then, instead of going to bed like I should've, started writing this.

:)

It's good to be back at school and independent again.
