RL: I have one. How did this happen?

Well. Generally speaking, the phrase "nothing happens to me" is very relavant, until recently when suddenly I have all these things to do. Fun things, which is a nice change.

Jessica was in the area for several months so we met up with our little ones and visited a local park with water shooting out of the ground (I'm so eloquent). The little ones loved that, but they also had a great playground, sand box, and swings so there were plenty of things for them to do. Asuka really got into this spinning device which would make her so dizzy she couldn't stand up straight and as soon as I got her off of it, she'd demand that I put her back in it. I don't quite get the allure, but it took some stern talking to before we could leave the park. Haha!

We met up again on another weekend to visit the County Fair. That was huge fun because the little ones could ride the Merry Go Round and train, but they also got a pony ride. To me the pony ride was an important step, since I am a lover of horses, so I hoped she wouldn't be too frightened. She wasn't and towards the end she was trying to disengage my grasp on her arm. I was very pleased. They had this huge blow-up police officer costume (with a person in it) that easily towered over everyone and for some reason, Asuka was absolutely enthralled. Nevermind, that she didn't even come up to its knee, she just had to follow it around as it waddled through the throng of people who looked at it askance and gave it a wide berth. I have no idea what the fascination was, but I wasn't about to stifle it. Makes me wonder how this will translate into her adulthood. Meanwhile, I was all over the food. I ate whatever took my fancy, especially dessert, and I regret nothing!

Work is going well (when I'm not messing something up) and we recently had a company party at the Boss's boat house. The Boss's family really knows how to entertain. We took a leisurely boat-ride over to a local restaurant and had lots of lovely seafood, then took a fast-paced boat ride back to main camp. Their home is really lovely with an open kitchen and screened porch on the second level. They also had a pool/ping pong table, which I really wanted to play but we ran out of time.

On Friday, several of us met up with my one local friend, Rhonda, because she is being shipped out to Yokousuka base and was leaving for her leave that very evening. I'm very sad now. All my friends leave me here (then they come back briefly and leave again); alone.... *snif* Ok, so I have a couple of friends up North, but it's not quite as convenient to hang out with them except on weekends, which I do occasionally.

And finally, dad has booked us a vacation in Virginia Beach and Williamsburg. (It was going to be Japan, then England/Europe, but since Asuka doesn't have a passport: VA Beach it is! Needless to say, I'll be applying for her passport the first chance I get.) I haven't had a vacation in a long time so this should be fun. As long as I have free time, my laptop with wi-fi, and a decent breakfast, I'll be good to go. I wouldn't mind if there were actually something to do there as well, aside from eating and shopping. We'll see.

Usually I have no social life, but it's really sad when I finally do and all I want to do is go home and jump on the internet. I'm always glad to see my internet buddies. I hope everyone is well!
