Home Work, again.

After a year of searching and waiting, we finally got a top for the tulip base. My "new" 15.00 (total amount) table:

Now to continue the search and wait game for some chairs!

Other stuff done around the house, moved a bunch of furniture (actually, D did the moving. I directed). The IKEA hacked Expedit from the hallway was moved to the living room and placed behind the sofa. It's a better fit, and will be used for book storage:

While the Expedit will be used for books, the actual book shelves have been getting seriously edited, a major tchocke removal to open up the space a bit:

The sofa has been moved to the center of the room, creating a more intimate seating area:

The chair on the right was rescued from the trash at Salvation Army. A Selig Z Chair, it was tossed because the guys unloading it had knocked the straps off, thus believing the chair was broken. It wasn't of course, but they threw it about twenty feet, from the back of the truck, onto the pavement. This ground out the ends of the arms, and cracked the frame. I ran over, pulled it up off the ground, shaking my head. For my trouble, they gave it to me.

This empty corner is prepared for the chairs coming back from the upholsterers later this week. We got the beige arm chair and the Conant Ball chair, which had been in the fire, reupholstered in a deep reddish coral colour. I can't wait.

View from the front door toward the kitchen (Milo's watching this season's newly fledged squirrels at the back door. Apparently, the word is out in the neighbourhood about an easy meal here):

This blue chair will be sold and the teak chair that was here a few years ago will be brought back:

Coat rack so badly needed. We survived the entire winter without it, but when guests come, it gets kind of messy:

More kitchen storage: I've tried to downsize my kitchen tools, also tried to streamline things. But because we now eat at home almost exclusively, and with various styles of cooking, I actually need more space. The kitchen is nice, but it's very tight. Pots and pans are in the new cabinet nook, also hanging at the top of the cellar stairs on pegboard hooks, this little cart helps ease the pressure a bit. Also, Milo loves to sit here while I cook, and also prefers to eat here, thus keeping him well away from the food prep area:

This is the old cart, which I'm now using for cookbooks and unrefrigerated fruits:

The built in cabinet/nook:

Once the chairs get back, D says we can finally hang artwork, mirrors, etc. We're closing in on two years since the fire. I can't believe all the changes that have taken place, and yet, the house feels better than ever.
