My MacWorld keynote thoughts

Jan 15, 2008 13:40

(Newest updates at the top) Reading the blog at ArsTechnica, crossed with CNBC's live blog and Bl00mberg news updates.

1:39 pm EST: Annnnnnd... that appears to be it. OK, so nothing really shocking. That Time Capsule thing sounds cool, especially for multi-Mac households like mine. Hubby thinks this would be a good thing for us to get too. 500GB for $300 sounds like a good deal to me. What'd you think?

1:33 pm EST: Heh, both blogs I'm watching are like, "No 'one more thing'?"

MacBook Air does sound pretty nifty! Seems like the perfect thing to tote to class, or to a meeting. This "Remote Disk" thing where you can "borrow" another local computer and install from their CD/DVD drive is particularly nifty!

The Simpsons movie will be on iTunes to rent as of tomorrow!

Who's going to want to watch YouTube videos on a big screen TV? Yuck.

Apple TV, take 2? No more hardware? This may work for us in our new entertainment system. Hubby will have to take a look.

Renting movies: no surprise there. Only 24 hours to watch? Booooooo. Decent pricing though.

New iPod Touch firmware: yes!!! My waiting to buy one has been justified! Free firmware upgrade!

"iPhone in its first 90 days of shipping garnered almost 20 percent marketshare of smartphone market", "200th day since the iPhone went on sale today, "I'm extraordinarily pleased to report that we have sold 4 million iPhones to date." -- That's pretty damn nifty.

Time Capsule: a dedicated wireless backup device solely for doing Time Machine backups. And you can back up more than one Mac. I like this idea.
