Pushing open the restaurant's door, Maka stepped inside. Looking around, she felt a nice, cozy atmosphere, and smiled. She truly felt like this university was her home already, but there was just one thing missing...
Sitting down at a table, she sighed. Friends. She didn't know anyone here--at least, no one she had seen yet. Glancing around the room, no one even looked at her as she tried to get some attention... Looking at the three other empty chairs at her table, she sighed again. Yes, it was very lonely with out friends. She almost found herself wishing she were back home.
'I wish I had a book with me.' She scowled down at a menu she had picked up, and ran her eyes over the page, searching for something to appease her appetite.
She was finding it quite hard to concentrate though, since she kept glancing up at the groups of kids at other tables. She would hear snippets of their conversations and even thought of replies...but couldn't bring herself to go over to them. It was impossible, for a bookworm like her to just walk over and make friends... Maka wasn't the 'making friends' type. People made friends with her, not the other way around. She was too quiet for that. Sure, she would help the occasional classmate who was lost in class, but none of those relationships went beyond the classroom.
When the waiter came over to take her order, Maka asked for a simple garden salad and a glass of water. Waiting for her food to come, she took the chance to look around again, hoping someone might come over to her and start talking.
