Election reflections

Nov 06, 2008 20:54

I voted nearly a month ago, and I am very excited to hear all of the election news (being one of the few who don't listen to any commercials or other advertisements on the subject). All of the journalism related to the election has been interesting.

I am really pleased with the result and am not embarrasssed to be an American living abroad right now. The message of change is exillerating and building positive international relations is heart warming.

The enthusiasm shown by the high voter turn-out, and the honest discussion of issues before the election seemed a breath of fresh air without stinky sewage thrown around like school-boys as a deciding factor.

I thought about staying up all night to hear the results as they came in, but I slept through the election instead, jolting awake at 4am (sticking a foot out of bed before pulling it back in), then I woke up excited again at 5am (but still couldn't manage to get more than one hand and foot out of bed before retreating fulling under the blankets). At 6:16 when I woke up though, I did pry my eyes open far enough to go and turn on the internet before taking a shower to hear the news.
