Potato 2010 February Translation - Ohno
I managed to take a little break in between my Maou-mode of my Senior Project and translate Ohno's part of the interview. So happy that I got to translate something again finally!!

T/N!!: The word 約束 (yakusoku) means 'promise', but in Japanese can also mean something similar to plans made with your friends/family. For example, if someone asks you if you want to go out to eat but you already have plans, you could reply something to the extent of "ごめんね、約束があるよ" (Gomen ne, yakusoku ga aru yo "I'm sorry, I already have plans") So please keep this in mind while reading this as the interview spans many different ways to interpret the word "promise" in Japanese.

[Treat a member to food once a week!?]
Do you keep promises with people?
I don’t really make promises. Because… I can’t keep them (laughs). I accidentally forget them, and on the day of I can’t figure it out (laugh). (Oh Ohno, you scatterbrain…) Especially with this job, there are many promises that I can’t properly keep. I’m often late to things like tapings, so I often think that I can’t keep promises like that because of that. I mean, I can’t really have a friend that would get mad if I suddenly had to cancel. Lately I really haven’t been making promises to go out to eat with friends. On top of that, for example tonight I thought I suddenly had some free time but even though I mailed my friends, there’s no one that will come out with me so I think they lost my mail (laugh). In these kinds of situations, I just wander around my favorite shops.
What are some Ohno family promises / rules?
None. We’re free to do what we want. Somehow or another, my dad acted kind of better than us. When I was young, I don’t know why, but my dad didn’t like it when people touched his hair so I tried to avoid doing that (laugh). And no matter what kind of mischief I was getting into outside I wasn’t scolded. Cuz my dad was more mischievous than me (laugh). (I can somehow see this. I always imagine Ohno’s dad doing his signature Wii Bowling wrist flick when I think of him haha)
What are some promises within Arashi?
There aren’t any. Should I try making promises like I’ll take one person with me and treat them to food or something? …Nah, it would be hard to do once a week, so I’ll do once a month (laugh). (Oh Ohno… you never fail to amuse me with your lack of motivation
) If I do it that often it should be fun. Lately because of our regular shows we’re all together the five of us, so I could probably keep a promise like that.
Do you keep your plans for outings, and do you plan what you're going to do ahead of time?
The outing that would make me absolutely happy is fishing! In regards to fishing, there are no days in which I can’t remember to do it (laugh). I typically go fishing with about 3 or 4 people. Firstly, I like the sea, and I have conversations that can only be had with friends on a fishing boat, and it’s kind of like in golf where you get excited over if you will be able to catch something or not. Well, when you’re on the ocean riding on a boat, if you reach half of your goal then you usually consider that an achievement. My fishing outings are a time that I’m given as a break, I immediately contact my friends and I even reserve a boat on my own (laugh).
What is a promise that you hope the future wife will make?
“I want you to protect me and only me” (laugh). Of course, I’m also protecting her, so “let’s protect each other together” (laugh) (o.m.g.)
Make a promise to the readers of 2010!
I’ll hold off a little on the fishing… maybe I’ll even become pale!? (Yeah, right) But I think I’ve gotten a little paler than before but, what do you think? Wait no~ Will I be able to keep this promise?
Your recent state?
I had a lot of scenes with Kozakai Kazuki-san in “Saigo no Yakusoku”. During the recording was my birthday and they surprised me and celebrated it, but the filming had suddenly taken up two hours and the staff seemed like they were hurriedly doing it (laugh). Like they were wondering if they should put the cake down or not. I’m sure they coordinated it, and Kozakai-san was doing different impressions for me (Matsumoto to his side: “What a nice person~!”) Kozakai-san’s family are Arashi fans, and he told me that on the opening day of his play his family ended up going to an Arashi concert instead (laugh). Lastly, I have a recommended plan for people who have recently become Arashi fans! With the feeling that Arashi gives off in “Saigo no Yakusoku”, I think it’s kind of an adult feeling so I think it would be interesting if when you watch the drama, you then watch “Kiiroi Namida”, then “Pikanchi”, and so on until you get to the beginning of Arashi.
