Fic!!!!!!! Fic!!!!!!!

I guess my Red Hood is a kinder, gentler, more Jason-y kind of guy. I still think this characterization can work. It depends on how much you take his attitude at face value, I guess. Oh, and a big Thanks! to monkeycrackmary for supplying comics fodder and for petronelle for lovely Robinsex inspiration and rubynye for encouragement. I hope this one’s a ( Read more... )

Oh. Oh, Jason. Bruce.

I will try to post more coherent feedback at some point when my brain is doing something beyond 'Kick-ass w00bies'.

I love this Jason. Fierce and still kind, I can see the Robin he used to be in the Red Hood he is now. Faith. Oh, this is going to *break you both*.

And you won't even care. Neither will Bruce.

Oh good! I always see Jason as just *Jason*, only changed through time and experience. They are really lost, aren't they? Thanks!

Wow, lovely! It's very well written! I wish I could say more but I know nothing about Red Hood Jason...I've been slacking in my comic news (all I remember is hearing "OMG RED HOOD=JASON!! WOWZOR!!"). Maybe if you have time you could explain what has happened with that plot line to me if you're ever bored. *grins*

Good job once again!

Hi there! Glad you liked. In this story, the flashback of Jason being tied up in the cave is canon (Nightwing: Year One). As far as Red Hood goes, we still know very little, even though months have passed. Red says he’s Jason, and his DNA holds up, but we don’t know how he’s back. It was all kind of frustrating. Everything we’d been able to predict about Red (his decision to kill, his goal to be a better Batman, his bitterness) turned out to be true. Bruce, for his part, has said a few short vague sentences about how he feels and stares sadly at the case. Though apparently Jason was there during ‘Hush’ for awhile, and fought Robin. I’m really not sure about all the details, but Red Hood is kind of a no-frills kind of guy with a few leftover flourishes from his sidekick days (and some neat-o toys) who seems to enjoy machine guns and knives for decapitation. He’s like the most basic kind of post-Crisis Jason, the kind of Jason people seem to remember, without the small details and complicated background and history that we all ( ... )

Ah, I see now. I like that you write with your own idea of Jason - it shows creativity and initiative to take what you want out of a fandom. Or something good like that ( ... )

You are so cool. What underground comics do you like? If you don't mind saying. I recently noticed the shop down the street has a ton of indie comics but I don't know which ones to check out. I used to read Stray Bullets and The Badger and random trade paperbacks, but nothing really underground.

I can't tell if mainstream comics are changing, or if I'm just getting older. And while Robin can be done poorly, if he's done well it's the best thing on earth!!! I love Robin. Batman is cool even without Robin, but I doubt I'd have loved him this long if it wasn't for the Boy Wonder. Robin is just one of those rare things that I always marvel at because I can't believe it exists. Like, proof of god or something. Because he doesn't make sense, and yet he's perfect. And yeah, if it wasn't for other slashers, I'd have fallen down some lonely hole of despair long ago :)

How did I miss this before? I thought I hadn't heard from you in awhile, and came by to look, and saw this.

I was really dubious about the Red Hood thing, but you've spun... I'd say gold, but what you have here is darker and grittier and more complexly wonderful than that.

In forgetting to tell you that you're very welcome for the well-deserved encouragement. My only excuse is that the hotness of the story burned all other thoughts out of my head. :)

Thanks! I'm glad you found this hot, because I did too, but I was afraid something got lost in the translation ;) You might have missed this because I've started friends locking all my stories. You are on my friends list though, of course :) Sometimes I wish I could block all of the Red Hood stuff out of my mind and go back to trying to revise Jason into existence myself (but that is always a task too). I am trying to write more, maybe some Bruce reminiscing, something angsty and dangerous in any case.

Wow. Your writing always leaves me a bit dazed and empty-headed, and then I have to try and find words for feedback. So, let me see. Hot. Somehow hurtful, somehow hopeful. Stark. And heavily-layered and definite, as I imagine Jason's mind to be after all this.

Bruce’s eyes narrow. He’s curious about people like me. He’s spent years trying to figure it out.

Liked that bit especially.

Thanks :) I'm just happy you read my stuff. Since I saw the movie I've been interested in the idea of Bruce devoting his life to understanding and conquering the criminal mind, and yet never quite being able to do so, because he's Bruce Wayne, because he's just not a criminal. One more irony in a life filled with irony.
