I just made my Robin "R" symbol for my Dragoncon costume. Which is this weekend !!! In Atlanta !!! I'm still at work 15 hours of the day and in the past week and a half I have moved myself to a new apartment, my sister to a new house, and gone to the Baltimore Comicon. Needless to say, I barely have time to check my email. My stuff is still in boxes. I love phone texts :) I've been wanting to post something for over a week and I have, oh, 20 minutes of free time. Yay for bullet points.
Dragoncon checklist:
* no hurricanes
* pics of Brandon Routh and Adrian Pasdar
* Robin costume
The two TV shows I watch:
* Mad Men (GAAAAAAH)
* Louie (LOOOOOOOOOOVE)
Best movies of the summer:
* Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (most funnest ever)
* Life During Wartime (GORGEOUS. Maplewood and Norman Bates are my cinematic heroes. What does this say about me hmmmmmm. Also, Solondz does an homage to The Night Porter (perhaps?). Whole thing is gorgeous. I had fun deciphering it with my sister. And MICHAEL K. WILLIAMS PLAYS THE PHILIP SEYMOUR HOFFMAN ROLE. SERIOUSLY. PAUL RUBENS DOES JON LOVITZ.)
Baltimore comicon DC spoilers:
* Chloe Sullivan is going to be in the Jimmy Olsen backup in Action Comics
* Lobo has a red corps ring.
* Tim is Red Robin and Damian is Robin for the foreseeable future.
* Secret Six tie-in appearances upcoming.
* Damian mini series - yes
* Grant working on Batman stories through 2012
* Batman Beyond will be ongoing series
Also, I MET DENNY O'NEIL. Yup, the guy who killed Jason Todd, and wrote Azrael, and basically shaped my comic book life more than should be possible.
Virginia
Baltimore has the personality of ten cities. This is the most generic shot. Everything else is amazing.
At Faidley's for lump crab cake. So. Fucking. Good. Maryland.
From the American Museum of Visionary Art. Blew my mind, kinda. Art from Saddam Hussein's surgeon, schizophrenics, Guantanamo Bay prisoners, Holocaust survivors, Civil Rights observers. There's a stained glass rainbow mobile of Icarus in the middle of the staircase. A pink poodle as tall as a building.
Denny O'Neil signed this issue of Azrael. I frantically picked it out at the con, because I brought no issues with me though I own the whole series because I am brilliant, and he said he had the cover art hanging in his house. I've always liked it - see I'm forgiving! Jason Todd is alive, and so is Robin, and Jean Paul is free somewhere - it's all good.
An official Baltimore Comicon souvenier I had to buy. WE'RE ALL SO SHOCKED, I KNOW.
View from the floor. Very purely comic book con, which was very cool. Artists doing commissions and everyone down to earth.
COSTUMES. Not many, but I missed the contest. Still, DEADPOOLS!
I also went to IKEA in Baltimore. One busy ass day.
My favorite place to go for coffee these days? Virginia Museum of Fine Art on the weekends with my sister. It's free and awesome.
P.S. Thank you,
twasadark, for the Red Hood mask - I FLIPPED! YOU ARE SO AWESOME! THANKS !!! Happy birthday to
killercrabcake, and hi to
andreth47 and *waves* because I am the most lax friend ever and can't even reply to comments. My 20 minutes are up :(
