I've been busy with getting the house ready to have our usual combo Father's Day, Anniversary, my birthday and Rossy's birthday party. I drove down to Pittsburgh to get Hazel on Sunday morning and then take her back home this morning. Pittsburgh/interstate - blaa. At least I was not driving in any rush hour traffic so it wasn't as bad as it could have been. We had a good party. I wanted everyone to commemorate by drawing in my art-a-day book. I painted the pages black on Saturday and put the words Father's Day and some more lines before I passed it around and asked everyone to draw something in it no matter how little - just something.

I really liked how it turned out. I think I'll do this again sometime. I didn't realize that the acrylic markers I got recently would be so great used over black paint till now.

I got three 1000 piece jigsaw puzzles and a string of Tibetan prayer flags from Jules and this really neat bowl from Chloe for holding yarn. (Some people thought it was broken when I pulled it out of the box - the weird opening.) I have wanted one like this for a while but then didn't want to spend the money on it since I already had a big old crock setting on the floor that was working. This will be nice though. I haven't been crocheting for a while. Maybe I'll get back to it now. I still need to make holders for a bunch of circular mirrors that I got to make dangles for the front curtain I've been working on (for what seems like forever).

The stupid hives are still hanging on. Earlier when I was outside and when I was driving the car back from Pittsburgh I had them the worst. Most the time I don't feel them and just ignore them. Generally they get riled up when I'm lying in bed trying to fall asleep, or if I get overheated during the daytime. Washing my hands in hot water makes it flare up so I'm remembering to always use cold.

The heat wave we've been having hasn't been too bad - yet - though it definitely feels hot here. I'd hate to have to go outside and do anything in the sun. Luckily it was overcast this afternoon. We usually get one hot spell a summer like this but most the time it doesn't happen till July or August. We're not suffering that much in this house. We haven't even turned on the AC in the kitchen window yet today (now 8 pm). Though I'm sure we will turn it on before bed tonight. It's warm in here but not unbearable especially if you're not moving around. I got Hazel an early birthday present and bought her a window AC unit on the way home. She's says it's been terribly hot in her 2nd floor room. Pittsburgh is usually about 10 degrees hotter than it is here.
