This morning - chopped up food for the chickens. Looks good. Cucumbers, tomatoes and tangerines.

Jan and I hiked today up by Saegertown on the Beaver Run Trail at the Erie Wildlife Refuge. There was a tree that was in blossom that I really liked. White petals that splayed out like fingers in bunches and orangish baby leaves lit up by the bright sun. I suppose I could try to make a more accurate drawing of what they really looked like but I thought of them as "Hamsa Hand Trees".

I'm back to my up-in-the-middle-of-the-night sleeping pattern again since I got back home. My day is broken up into a few waking periods with longish naps between them. I seem to never sleep much longer than 4 hours in the night so then I have to make it up at other times. Yesterday I went to bed around 11 pm and slept till 3. Ate an early breakfast and crocheted, did one of the easy 100 piece puzzles, did animal chores, suddenly felt really tired and went back to bed at 8. Set an alarm for 9 so I could get up and be ready to hike with Jan. Got home from the hike around 2, took the dogs for a walk and then slept from 3 till 5. Made dinner and here I am on the computer. I doubt I will want to stay up much later than 10 tonight so something similar will probably repeat tonight too. I don't know if I should complain about it or just accept it and be happy sleeping this way. I guess I'll be happy. I AM happy that I don't have to work a job that I need to stay awake all day for. And I do enjoy the quiet of the night and being alone.

Anyway - today was such a beautiful day. Sunny. I wore a heavy wool shirt over a thin hoodie in the morning and it was perfect. Later in the day the wool layer came off. The trees are starting to green up and are showing yellow, yellowish green and orange colors. I love spring. May is my favorite month and it feels like May right now.
