I started writing here yesterday afternoon but never got around to finishing it.
(Wednesday): I thought Jan and I were going to go on a short bike ride this morning and then we'd eat at that new place in town called
Smoke Cantina - Homegrown Kitchen. I detect a pot soundingness to the name - "Smoke Homegrown"? The place is supposed to be really good. Pictures of the foods they make look fancy and delicious. Jan went last week with her sisters. I was looking forward to going today with her after biking but we decided to not go when rain came up and then I checked later and Smoke Cantina isn't open on Wednesday anyway!
We did go hiking Tuesday morning though.
I wanted to show Jan this place in the woods where a trail used to go. The foot bridge washed out long ago and then the trail became lost.
We ended up coming back to the parking area by way of Big Rock. I like how those vines trail down from the top like fringe.
Thursday (today): Yesterday I didn't do much except drive Roswell to work in the morning and pick him up later. Just a rainy and tired kind of day. In the afternoon we watched the 1930 black and white version of All Quiet On The Western Front. Like some other people I might vote it too as being the best version, though all versions are very good. Then in the evening we watched Women Talking. I didn't think Dave would like it but he ended up sitting down and watching it with me. Women Talking is fiction but very much like what happened in the 2022 documentary called Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey about a Mormon offshoot. If that could happen in real life then this could happen too. People are crazy. Men are crazy. Crazy to wage war and sacrifice their sons and crazy to want to sexually dominate others.
Today will be similar to yesterday I suppose. A rainy, dark kind of day. Drive Roswell to work. Maybe I'll actually get some house cleaning done. I got out the big vacuum (the heavy duty vintage Kirby) yesterday in plans to deep clean the bedroom carpet but didn't do it then. Maybe today.
