Yesterday Dave and I ended up hiking with the dogs in the woods by Lamartine. He wanted to see if he could find and show me some Lady Slipper flowers that had grown in years past there. We didn't find any but we did find the leaves of some. Either we were too early or else those plants didn't have the energy to put out flowers this year. Some pictures of things in the woods:

This is a hunting shelter that Mike built for his friend Dan last year. Dan is a quadriplegic and travels around the woods in a wheelchair that is almost like a tank with caterpillar wheels. It looks like he built it so they could move it easily somewhere else if they wanted to.

We took a little rest and sat on this rock. It was perfect for looking down over the hill and seeing the view. Very restful.

A hunting shanty built very long ago by a guy who is in his 90s now. It has a very tilted floor now. Looks like it was pretty nice at one time and there are still 2 chairs in it.

I liked how this tree was growing perched on this pile of rocks. All the dirt that was once in its root ball is gone.

We drove home by way of Kennerdell and stopped at the Kennerdell Overlook. The Allegheny River in the distance.

Came home and played around with the macro phone lens with a couple more flowers.

Dame's Rocket.

Buttercup.

Plans for the day today: OA, and maybe walk in the cemetery before hand. In the afternoon stop by Nancy's family's reunion - I might get to see her 2 year old granddaughter. I've envied people with little kids in their family lately. My youngest grandchild is going to be 19 this month. I miss the little ones. And then shop for some stuff to make veggie wraps. I think that's what I'll make for the family vegan meal today. We've kind of fallen away from "game night". Just doesn't seem right to be in the house playing a game after dinner when it's still light out now that it's summer.
