Found an old friend flower down back on one of the paths in our woods yesterday. I IDed this last year and the name was on the edge of my brain so I had to look it up again. Star of Bethlehem. What a nice name. Here's some more photos where I played around with the image:
We're going to a cookout tonight at Chloe's in-laws house. They have a nice backyard spot with a fire circle. I'm taking deviled eggs.
Sunny day again. I might walk in the cemetery by the church before the meeting this morning. I did end up walking in the cemetery yesterday while I waited for my car to be done. There were quite a few people freshening up the graves yesterday. I suppose today there will be even more. Thinking back to when I was a kid and would accompany my mom to her parent's graves up on Oak Hill - the catholic cemetery. She planted geraniums each spring. I associate the smell of geraniums with her, and them. I explored other graves while she worked and got her water in the watering can to water the new plantings. If I got tired I can remember laying across the top of my grandparent's gravestone like it was a narrow hard bed (I was pretty small myself then) and thinking about them sleeping under the ground. I was afraid to step on graves - thinking it was rude. But she explained it didn't hurt them. I should go and visit the grandparents again. I haven't been to that cemetery for a very long time. I doubt anyone puts flowers on their graves anymore.
