Good Friday. I can remember as a kid spending a lot of the day on Good Friday imagining the terrible things that Jesus went through. Trying to feel sad and solemn.
Infrared. From where I sit this morning.
Reading news in the morning is the worst. Starting my day with all that awful stuff. I think I will get back to reading from a meditation book each morning first thing instead.
The new pepper spray I ordered has arrived. Now to get brave and get back out there to hiking alone - a thing I love to do. I wish they'd catch the guy. If we lived in a big city I suppose we would be so used to the idea of murders and rapes happening every day that things like this wouldn't affect us but in this small town world it feels very momentous and threatening. *EDIT*
siglinde99 looked up the
updated news story and told me just now that they caught the man responsible - yay, yay, yay!
Today will be a cleaning day and tomorrow will be a cooking/baking day. I'm making vegan lasagna for Easter dinner. Going to try out my new extra deep baking pan. Maybe all the lasagna will finally fit in the pan now. We are having Easter dinner here tomorrow. Dave's making Gahr's ham loaf and we'll have the pickled beets that we canned last summer. I'll make deviled eggs with our own chickens' eggs too.
Just heard a flock of geese fly over.
I'm learning 2 new songs. Both by Leonard Cohen. Suzanne, and Bird on a Wire. Both properly forlorn and heartfelt songs.
We finished watching The Whale. I would highly recommend it. Hard to watch though. We had to take a break midway through. It really hit home for me. A "There But for the Grace of God Goes I" kind of thing, and not only about the weight but about the guilt that we feel about decisions we have made in life. Life is not easy.
On Wednesday Jan brought us each a colt's foot flower. One of the very first wild flowers to bloom in spring.
Yellow and purple. The Easter colors. Purple is not my favorite color - it's my least favorite (cold and brooding it seems to me) - but when you put some sunny yellow with it, it becomes beautiful.
