Had a super time yesterday at McConnell's Mill hiking the Kildoo Trail with Candy. Usually we hike it in a counterclockwise direction but this time I wanted to see it clockwise. I took a lot of pictures (of course). I slipped on mud under fallen leaves twice and fell. Luckily I fell backwards and landed on my backpack and didn't get hurt. Both times it happened when other people were approaching and I was trying to get to the edge of a narrow section of trail so they could pass. Kind of made me feel fragile though. Thinking about how easily it could have been worse. Anyway I ended up deciding that next time I hike there I want it to be summer, in dry weather when there are no leaves on the ground. That place has an excess of rocky and unsteady ground. Many pictures:

Before we got to the Kildoo trail I wanted to stop and see the Alpha Falls waterfall. As a waterfall it wasn't impressive at all right now in the dry season but the rock wall that the water came out of was massive.

You can hardly see the water falling in this picture.

Continuing on - going down the stairs to the Mill and the covered bridge where the Kildoo trail starts.

The mill falls and mill building.

Covered bridge over Slippery Rock Creek.

In the beginning the trail is very smooth and wide and you even see people in wheelchairs and parents pushing strollers here.

Candy waiting for me to catch up.

The view from the bench looking up at the bridge I was on when I took the previous picture.

The trail starts to get more uneven from now on.

This view is from a bridge at the halfway point when you turn and head back on the other side of the creek.

It was good to see the red of the covered bridge again. This side of the creek was much rougher with more up and downs and uneven ground. I was getting tired by now of climbing up and down on rocks.

This electric refueling station was up in the parking lot. This was the first time I had ever seen one of these. I hope they become more common.

After our hike we drove south on 19 a few more miles and ate at the Log Cabin Inn. I had one of the best baked fish dinners I can remember. The fries were perfect and I ate every one - something I don't usually do.

A partially sunny, warm day today. I think once I get this posted I'll take Rainy for a little walk down back. She's been neglected the last few days while I've been hiking with humans...
