A dark and dismal morning today. Decided to not hike. Though it was at least dry in the morning. Instead Dave and I went shopping at Walmart. It's raining now. Oh wait - that was five minutes ago - now the sun is shining. Very changeable weather at the moment.
I got a call from Kathy this morning and a call from Kenyon this afternoon. Nice to connect with Kenyon. We had a nice catch up talk. It was concerning to hear from Kathy because they are bracing for the arrival of Hurricane Ian tomorrow. They've done everything right to prepare but it will still be scary. Right now Ian's heading to landfall right where they live (Bradenton, FL).
Yesterday Candy and I hiked at Erie Wildlife in the morning and then in the evening Dave and I walked the dogs to the lake so I got out a lot yesterday. Here's a bunch of pix:
The pond closest to the parking lot at Erie National Wildlife Refuge. It started out overcast and cloudy yesterday and we even had a little rain.
Thought an "usie" would be good for my "self portrait a day".
Woodland path.
New England Asters. My favorite of the asters.
The clouds started to break up and were sliding overhead quickly.
Yellow shadow flowers.
At the swamp pavilion.
The swamp was colorful and russet.
More woods.
This was from Dave's and my walk to the lake as we went past his garden. Poor shriveled squash. Now that I'm seeing the picture of it I see some bugs on it too - probably what did the damage.
Lacy and brown.
Dave and the dogs.
The lake from one of the little inlets.
More dirt and rocks pushed around. They've blocked the path down to the lake. There used to be a nice rocky beach here.
So, now that it's cleared up and the rain is done for a while here I hope we can take the dogs for another walk this evening...
