We met up at the Clarion River with Dave's brother Bob and sister Carol and her husband Ed yesterday. Bob's dog is a youngish lab (2 years old) and he and Andy had a great time playing together. Bob had invited a friend and the friend's wife and niece and they brought 2 old beagles. Very low-key dogs compared to the playing labs running all over the place. Rainy tried to get in with the play fighting labs but they ignored her. The beagles ignored her too and she ignored them. After a hike up on the hill Rainy was tired and spent the evening laying in my arms like a baby. Bob is a Trump hating republican so at least we had that in common (we both hate Trump) and Carol is a religious democrat who is glad that Row v Wade was rescinded. I had decided (as I always do at these family things) that I didn't want to talk politics or try to argue someone out of their beliefs but they kept bringing things up with me. Trying to navigate this group was interesting. Who knows? Maybe it was all good - people getting to hear other peoples opposing thoughts in a friendly way. I was exhausted at the end of the night and glad to get home, wash off the river dirt and go to bed. Andy did not want to leave (Bob and his dog were camping there) and we had to lead him to get into the car by his collar.

I have starting doing the morning chicken chores in two parts just because I don't want to have to do that much work so early in the morning. So lately I've been going out very early (before they wake up) and just open their coop door. They have chicken food in a hopper in their run so they can eat that. That keeps them quiet so I can do my morning mediations and writing and not be interrupted with a lot of squawking from the coop on the baby monitor. Then I go out later in the morning (when I feel ready) to scatter some mealworms and sunflower seeds and hang a bunch of greens for them. Also clean up the poop in the coop that they left there overnight.

Plans for the day: maybe hike with Rainy at 2 Mile this morning (it's supposed to storm in the afternoon), but for sure I want to do some more organizing in my room with my art supplies. I have a rolling cart that has a lot of collage supplies (magazines and pictures I've torn out of magazines) and I'd like to get that closer to the painting table. I could then move a cabinet that has different less-used art supplies over to the writing table.
