I need a break from piano practice... so I'll take a picture of the piano instead:
I should practice more on other days, rather than having the pressure on so hard the day of my lesson. When will I learn that? Most days I practice for only 10 or 15 minutes or no minutes. Then on the day of the lesson I practice for 2 hours and feel burned out. Though I'm getting better at accepting that I am where I am with this. It's not like I'm in a competition. Except with myself. To make at least some progress.
You know what I love the most? A new song. One that I know. A slow song. A "beautiful" song. One that is easy enough that I can recognize what it is when I first play it. When I get a new song and I'm feeling my way through it for the first few times I don't realize yet where the trouble spots will be, where I will continually hesitate/stutter so it feels really good then.
I'm going to suggest to my teacher tonight that my next song will be Beauty and the Beast. I think that will do nicely. If I can just pass these 2 that I'm working on now. One of them I especially dislike but it is in the lesson book so I'm willing to believe that learning these lessons will help me later.
