Question:
9 Are you a worrier? What’s something you’re worried about right now. Can you do something constructive about the situation?
Yes, I am a worrier, though I'm getting better at letting things go as I get older. There is a saying that I like, "Am I living in the problem, or am I living in the solution?". Worrying is living in the problem. Sometimes the solution is doing what I can about the problem and then letting it go, and sometimes the solution is doing something totally different from dealing with that problem because that problem is not my problem - it is someone else's problem. Sometimes I just need to change my mind about whose problem it is. If I did stray off into worry it would be my usual kind of worry like; us getting old, my body falling apart, dying, the Covid, will we run out of money, the political state of this country, the degradation of the planet, our kid's and grandkid's happiness, the animals, people wanting things from me, people not liking me. But, right now the problem that woke me up this morning was what to do about the smell in this house. Summer smell, doggy smell, cat litter box smell, dirty carpet smell, basement smell. The house smell is usually better in the winter but surely there is something I can do about it now. I looked up DIY carpet fresheners while I was still lying in bed this morning. It's basically baking soda and essential oil, which I have lots of. I just need to buy some baking soda and find something to sprinkle the mixture from and I'll be set. I have my piano lesson today so I will be in town and I can get baking soda then. Problem solved.
Two pictures I took yesterday:
With Jan in the morning. At an overlook at Two Mile Run Park. Things are getting an autumn color to them.
Down back at the creek. Looking into the afternoon sun, light bouncing off the creek water.
