Dave went early to the auction at Deb's hoping to get her tractor. I went later after I got done with OA. There is absolutely nothing more that I want to bring into my life so I didn't even look at the auction things. I sat keeping company with her in the house while the auction was taking place outside. But my eye kept going to this stick leaning up against the wall in a corner. I moved it to a better spot so I could take a picture of it. It has wonderful Indian bells hanging from it and when it is moved they sound. After I put it back I asked Deb what she was doing with it and she said, nothing - do you want it? Yes! So I feel a little bad I didn't get it during the auction but I feel very blessed that I got this wonderful magic stick as a parting gift from Deb. She made it as a prop for a theater show.
The other thing I took a picture of was her Norfolk Island pine. I have one too that has been in the family for years. I've taken a picture of mine before - I usually use it as a Christmas tree even though it is terribly leggy and can hardly hold anything more than paper decorations. This tree of Deb's has been around a long time!
Mine is only about 3' high and I feel like it's already too big for our living room. So this is what can happen eventually.
The big news was that Dave did get the tractor. He says this is the first time he has ever gone to an auction for a particular thing and actually got the thing. If the weather had been better maybe there might have been a better turnout. At times it was snowing pretty heavily and the wind was blowing. Though there were still lots of people and the road out front was lined with cars and trucks as far as you could see.
This will be the last I see of Deb before she goes out west to live with her son. But as we were saying goodbye we both said simultaneously - keep in touch. So I hope we do. I'm not very good at that - out of sight, out of mind is my usual way.
