Lots in the line up of things-to-do today - that's probably why I am here procrastinating. Most all of it is stuff I don't really enjoy doing. Cleaning house especially. Making food - not that interested in that. David Z decided last night that it's time so I will be driving him and Halley to the vet's at some point. Putting a dog to sleep is my least favorite of all activities in the whole world. Shopping - I looked up pumpkin desserts that everyone, including the vegans next door can eat and I need to go to the store to get some ingredients.
Sorry. I never have been a Thanksgiving lover. I remember mom watching the parade on TV and trying to get me to come and see it with her. Lame (in my young opinion) and still something I would never watch on a screen - it might be better in person. I have always thought that a turkey stinks while it is cooking. And dealing with the raw cold carcass - stuffing it - yuck. Then afterwards you have to get in there and tear it apart with your bare hands - another yuck. Dave does all that now - I'm very glad. It will be nice to have the family over. Chloe and Mike are coming along with Jules and his 2 boys. Hazel is off from work. Johnny and Alison can't come - that is disappointing. There is such pressure to make so many foods and fancy foods - I do not like that about Thanksgiving. I'd much rather have a holiday where I could make a big pot of vegan chili - simple - one pot. Maybe some cornbread to go with it. They could rename that holiday, Easy Gratitude Day.
So we are supposed to think about what we are thankful for - I can do that:
Dave.
All my kids (Jules, Chloe, Johnny) and all the grandkids (Hazel, Sebastian, Roswell).
Hazel living with us.
Sweet little brainless Rainy Day.
Smart and kindly Andy has a lot of personality.
Cats that are healthy (Milo - still going strong at the moment, and Skye)
Chickens that entertain us.
The ability to hike and be out in nature.
My body that does what I want it to do (pretty much).
A car - a wonderful convenience for living where we do.
Friends to do things with and share thoughts with.
A sister who I am close to - maybe not physically, but mentally and emotionally.
The place where I live - yes, maybe we have snow and cold and hot muggy summers but we do not have wildfires and droughts. And it is beautiful! Rivers and hills and all the seasons.
Another thing about the place where I live - in the country near a small town. That can be bad or good. Mainly good in my opinion. We know nothing of traffic jams here. You have to drive far to get to certain things but I like driving on country roads through the country side. It's pretty.
Art and hobbies and the ability to do whatever I want. I do not lack for interests and occupations. Clay in the basement - drawing and painting upstairs and if I want to make something with jewelry I can. Crochet - mindless relaxation.
Our new cell phones! Now I get why a cell phone can be so handy. Internet, music, movies, videos, even phone (!), quick messaging, clock and alarms, food and calorie helper. I love that we are done with Hughesnet satellite for our internet now. I called them yesterday and cancelled it - yay.
Piano! I almost forgot music! I am so very much enjoying learning about music and making music now with the piano and ukulele.
Okay - that's enough procrastinating. Time to start sweeping the house.
