After dinner tonight I went down and worked on going through some of the stuff on that wet cabinet in the basement. Nasty and slimy some of it. It was very easy to throw a lot of it out - I filled a big garbage can pretty quickly. I found out that the contents of the top drawer were ruined but the lower drawers are okay. There was a box of letters and cards I needed to read through before I pitched them. Then I came to a basket of photos all stuck together - most of them totally ruined. Back in the 1980's I used to take a lot of photos and then use the photos for painting inspiration. I didn't mind losing a lot of the photos cause they didn't have people in them - just trees, old houses and barns, roads, scenery. But I found a few that I enjoyed looking at again.
My beloved Nanny. This was around 1983. You can see the goatshed in the background.
A cat I once had named Flower.
Mom's garden - 1984. This was after the divorce when Jules and I came back home to live with my parents and brother John. I had met Dave in 1983 and he built me that chicken house in the background. Dad really enjoyed the chickens and named quite a few of them. He would go down there and just stand and watch them.
Winter time.
This is the pile of photos that was ruined.
Seagulls on rocks. A photo of a painting that I did back then.
The inspiration for the painting. I took this picture up in Canada on Georgian Bay. I went up with Dave in 1984.
