Lunch with justapostcard Nancy today. She drove. We went to Double Play in Oil City. We both really liked it - an unassuming place. It advertises itself as a sports bar and night club. Sometimes they have bands on the weekend. Their lunch crowd is small - mainly older folks like us. Good food. One of their specials today was butternut squash soup. I had some and it was delicious. I didn't ask if it was vegetarian first and later we asked what their recipe was and it had chicken stock in it - oh no - probably the only chicken I have had in 27 years. I'm not going to feel bad - it was an honest mistake. But now I want to figure out how to make my own at home without it.
There is a row of pinball games, a juke box, dart board, a punching (?) game and amongst all that a little table with crayons and coloring books - it's that kind of place.
Before eating we drove up to a place where there is a view over Oil City. Not much in the way of fall colors yet - that is surprising. I bet the colors will all come at once. We haven't had a frost yet - that always helps.
