hello pennsylvania

We got back last night around 8. Our house usually does smell a little musty in the summer (Pennsylvania is so damp) and we choose to have no AC but this smell was much worse. Poor Andy had gotten hit by a skunk while we were gone. Hazel gave him a bath in dog shampoo when it happened and she said it was much better now than it was, but still. Reading on the internet we found a recipe for washing a skunked dog (mix one quart of 3% hydrogen peroxide, 1/4 cup of baking soda and 1 teaspoon of dish detergent (dish washing soap - like Dawn) - double it for a large dog). I will get the ingredients this morning and give him another bath today.

One week's worth of eggs sitting on the counter last night. Hazel knew to gather them but I guess I forgot to write in the house care directions that she should put them away into cartons in the fridge too. Luckily it doesn't matter much - eggs will stay fresh without refrigeration. I kind of enjoyed seeing them all piled up like this.

This was just an interesting photo I took outside our motel yesterday morning. I liked how the paint on the pavement defined how the cracks developed. We didn't make many stops on the way home - just wanted to get back as quickly as possible. I didn't even look out the window that much. I sat in the back and either crocheted or read my book. I finished "On the Move" by Oliver Sacks just as we got to Franklin. I do believe he is my favorite author. I have read most of this books now but have a few more to look forward to. I'm glad of that.

Also looking forward to finding out when we can pick up Rainy. I will call the shelter about that today. Originally they said mid June was when her puppies would be ready to leave her. I told them I'd be gone from the 9th till the 17th on vacation and would give them a call when I got back and they said that sounded good. I may have her soon!
