implantable loop recorder

I went to see the cardiologist today to talk about the episode of heart palpitations I had last month when we were coming back from seeing the eclipse. He wants me to see a specialist in Erie about implanting a loop recorder. He thinks I need it so they can figure out what exactly is happening when I have one of these episodes. If I have another episode then I should hurry to the ER and get them to record it there - then I might not need to get the loop recorder. He showed me an illustration of one that looked like the one in the link - the smallest kind. The insertion of it sounds pretty simple and mainly painless. It can stay in place for up to 3 years. Somehow it communicates at night with a transmission monitor that you keep at your bedside. I'm just absorbing all this information now. I actually think all this stuff is interesting and look forward to finding out more about it. I won't be scheduled to see the heart rhythm specialist till the end of October.
