Let's Divide America through Stereotypes!

But somehow, somewhere along the way, faith stopped being used to bring us together and started being used to drive us apart. It got hijacked. ~Barack Obama, June 23rd, 2008, Hartford, Connecticut.

Mistake #1. I watched Fox News
Mistake #2. I watched Ann Coulter on Fox News
Redemption #1: only for a few minutes last night.
Redemption #2: Hey, I was waiting for House reruns to come on!
Redemption #3: I'm not such a snob that I refuse to watch Fox.  I just watch it rarely, with many grains of salt.

Apparently, (and thank god) I stopped watching before Coulter even got to the "f" word--and no, not that F word, the other F word. The one I lecture my brother on, NOT that lovely inspiration for "FRAK," which I use all the time. Found out about that here.

So I'll give you: watching Fox and listening to Coulter on Fox was not bright.  mia culpa.

What REALLY pissed me off was her "B. Hussein Obama" act.  She repeated it about ten times in a row, just for shock value.  Oh, yes.  Let's SCARE the American people.  *That always works!*  IS EVERYONE WHO HAS "HUSSEIN" IN THEIR NAME NOW AUTOMATICALLY A TERRORIST?!?  I don't have a problem if she points out that his middle name is "Hussein" and calls him "Barack Hussein Obama" in order to make a larger point,  but I DO have a problem with her using "B. Hussein Obama" as if it was a more official name.  And she wasn't making a larger point.  It was (surprise, surprise) for shock value.  It's the abbreviation of "Barack," NOT the inclusion of "Hussein," that I have a problem with.  PRETENDING that it's a better, more "real" name just pisses the hell out of me.

Then she went on about the maligned race of blond women in America.  Hum.  Somehow, I find it difficult to address the issue of stereotyping one group of people, when she just manipulated and exacerbated the stereotypes of another group of people.  *headdesk*

I'm done ranting now, because Ann Coulter doesn't deserve more than this one little tantrum.   That's right--done now.  Perhaps I'll even grow up someday?  Nah.  Growing up is way overrated.  I will channel  my immaturity  in other directions next time.  *promise*
