If you saw Up in 3D, you might have seen the trailer for hampster spy movie G-Force. If you the trailer, did you notice the little trick they do with the way the movie is framed?
That movie is letterboxed on all four sides. Most of the movie/trailer takes place within the box, with occassional items "bursting" into the letterbox area, enhancing the 3D effect.
Is this a commonly used 3D technique? Or did Bruckheimer think this up himself?
This trick is a bit of a cheat. But it was the first time I've noticed it, and I thought it was a bit clever. And yet, it makes me no more interested in seeing the movie. I'll see a G-Force movie when it involves a Japanese fighting unit in bird suits.
