Dreaming

I'm a lucid dreamer but this was an especially vivid one.

I was waiting for the train to go home, but it wasn't so much Caltrain as BART (though I was getting on Caltrain). The train arrived and it was already nearly pitch dark, but the train was more of a platform on train wheels. There were no seats and everyone just sat cross-legged on the asphalt. I thought briefly that this wasn't safe, but it must not have moved very fast. I didn't feel cold or scared. This was just, I realized, how it was supposed to be after a certain time of night. They couldn't keep sending out the regular daytime trains.

I decided to get off the train early (congratulating myself for remembering to go this way for once) in what was downtown (SoMA) of San Francisco so that I could stop by Notre Dame and maybe have a chance to see the sunset from the rooftops. Not until about an hour after I woke up did I remember that Notre Dame is not in San Francisco. It made so much sense that at that bend in the train tracks, there should be a stop to get off in that area where Ailey used to live in Paris.

I was too late to go up Notre Dame, but I found a wonderful little candy store. It was novelty-styled - lots of unusual candies flavored with things like chilies and thyme. Beautifully wrapped and assorted. I saw Andrew from Vassar's Abby Dance there and we noticed each other, but didn't say hello.

The store smelled so strongly - I can still recall the smell. I lingered, looking for the perfect presents for several people. Lia for her birthday, mom and dad for Valentine's Day, Casey and Anna just for fun.

I wish that place existed. I was going to spend a lot of time there.
