1. Always be affectionate to the people you love. Whether it's a kind word, a gift, or a peck on the cheek, they deserve to know you appreciate them.
2. Take off your shoes. You will always feel more liberated when barefoot.
3. Anytime you have a chance to go to the theater, a concert, a museum -- go. You will take something in, and it will change you a little bit for the better.
4. Karma is real. Make an effort to be kind, especially to those less powerful than you.
5. It is always, always better to give a possible love interest a shot. Regret is a bummer, and even if it doesn't pan out you will learn a lot about yourself.
6. Everything looks brighter on the far side of a nap or a hot shower.
7. Never be afraid of being cliché. If you feel it, it's valid. Some of the most moving and meaningful sentiments can seem silly if you're not in the right frame of mind.
8. If a book is not working out for you, you're under no obligation to finish it. There are too many things out there that you'll love reading to waste time on something that isn't challenging or pleasing you.
9. Slack off. If it's really important you won't be able to let yourself, and if it isn't you'll work better later under pressure anyway.
10. Passion is the single most attractive trait in the world. Find your cause, your project, your love, and go at it with everything you have.
11. Don't be afraid of color!
12. Work with kids. Their eyes are still open in ways yours will never be again, but some share well.
15. Go ahead and cheat every once in a while... it's a cheap thrill, and most of the time nobody'll notice.
