I wanted to tweet this so badly, but voted against it.

The tweet would've looked something like this: " uhh, my housemate has been in the BR forever, but just invited me to pee in front of her... when nature calls..."

I've been waiting to use the bathroom for the last hour. After 40 minutes I knocked and a woman inside said "one minute" then her husband came up and went in to the bathroom, 5 minutes later he came out and left the door slightly cracked.

I stood in the doorway of my room, Valerie came out of hers and stood in her doorway "see," she whispered "this is what I'm talking about!" She waited a moment then went back into her room.

I heard a persistent scrubbing noise coming from the crack in the door and thought "eh, maybe she's just washing some clothes and I can ask her to leave the bathroom while I use it."

so I knocked.

"uhhh" the woman hesitated "ok, come in." I peeked in to see her peeking her head out of the tub. She was naked.

"oh, I'm sorry, are you bathing?" I asked "I thought you were cleaning something"

"its ok, come in, go ahead" I couldn't peg her accent. I felt awkward about this, I wanted to tell her it doesn't work that way, that I should be able to use the bathroom without her being in the tub vigorously scrubbing away. Instead I shrugged and left the bathroom door cracked, praying her husband wouldn't return. I hurried past the bathtub (the shower curtain is clear) and hiked up my bath robe. I just imagined that, wherever she was from, this kind of interaction is normal... maybe bathrooms are sparse back home and any woman should be happy to share a bathroom with her mother, cousin, aunt, or neighbor. Regardless, it was a less than ideal way to use the toilet in the middle of the night, but if she doesn't care, I don't.

I wonder if she expected me to refuse. hm.

Funny, she left the bathroom, but is back now scrubbing away again.
