Jas ran away yesterday.

She's back; she was back about 1/2 an hour after she decided to make a break for freedom. I spent that half an hour running up and down the hill hollering after her, knocking on doors of yards she jumped into, and crying like an idiot. In the pouring rain, of course, and on time I was supposed to be using to drive to school to take a midterm.

I finally gave up and ran back up the hill to my house to get my car, and lo and behold, there was Jas, snuffling around the front yard. I hollered for her one more time, and she turned heel and ran back to me as fast as she'd run away in the first place. Gratifying, but by no means does it make up for the fact that I had to spend all day yesterday literally soaked to the skin, in soggy sneakers and with puffy eyes. Knowing where home is, good. Knowing better than to dart off from it in the first place, better.

On the upside, at least they didn't eat any more walls.

Midterms are done, and now the onslaught of presentations and papers begins. Why is this semester so absurdly difficult?
