:D

We have a new cat!

Cai has been a very lonely cat since Nadia passed. :( She's been very meowy, restless, in constant need of affection... They've been together since tiny kittens, so I'm not surprised. Anyway, we went down to the SPCA today, unsure as to whether we would get a kitten or a young cat - we didn't want an adult, because often they can be set in their ways, but we weren't sure after Mari if Cai would react well to a little kitten who might not know her manners yet. -g-

So! We went. We fell in love. :D

She is a sweet little tabby about a year old (maybe less) and she is adorable. :D She is incredibly affectionate and has a lovely little rumble of a purr, too! She was obviously curious from the moment that we saw her at the SPCA - she kept getting down out of her little house to come to investigate us.

At first we didn't even know if we would be able to adopt today - the power was off when we first got there, and then they were really busy and we were worried that they would need to call our landlord and would keep us waiting another day. That would have been without a guarantee that we would get the cat we wanted, too. But! They took a look at our lease, and since it blatantly said that we could have two female cats (and probably because we seemed like we knew what we were talking about) they said we could take her today. :D

We did briefly get distracted by a tiny little black kitten at the front desk, but again; we weren't sure how Cai would react, and they said that they were accepting applications, so it might have been a case where we were up against other people.

So now we just have to see how the introductions will go - Cai has hissed at the smell of her, a couple of times, and they've shared a spat through the bedroom door. But we're taking things slow (unlike with Mari, last time) and we're hoping that Cai's loneliness will win out. I just hope that our new little one doesn't have an attitude herself - she growled at someone walking by outside, which surprised me! But she wasn't listed as having any issues with the other cats at the SPCA, so.

Currently she's un-named - we're trying to decide between Siobhan and Holly, unless we come up with something new, hehe.

Anyway, have a random picture of upsidedown!Cai!
