to clarify

i hear so many people talk about eating disorders and people who have them, i just feel the need to talk about it from my point of view.

what do i hear? how ungrateful we are that we can afford food but choose not to eat it. how we should just "eat a hamburger". how we're all a product of society's vision of perfection ( Read more... )

i, too, am a random journal finder, sorta. i liked this entry. i'm overweight, myself, and i'm working to get down to a healthy one that isn't unnatural for my body. self image issues are hard. i've always been overweight. that's what happens when you're half italian [meaning you're practically force fed, because no matter how fat you get, you're still too skinny] and your DNA curses you with a slow metabolism [thanks, dad].

i've got a belly dancer body. i like it, but it's too big. i want to keep the shape, but make it less jiggly. heh. i've done a ten day fast. everyone assumed it was for weight loss. it wasn't. it was for enlightenment. but OH NO i must be anorexic now, because i've stopped eating. all of my friends in highschool were saying i was anorexic, and all sorts of garbage. this proved that they didn't know anything about anorexia. you can't go from being an overweight food lover to being anorexic over night. not even in ten days. it takes far longer than that. i CHOSE to do that fast. one doesn't CHOOSE an eating disorder.

i'm glad you made this entry. it's something that people need to learn more about and understand. i've never been anorexic, so i don't know what it's like. i've been tempted in the past to tell people who are anorexic to FUCKING EAT SOMETHING!!!1 but it's not that easy for them. that would be like someone coming up to me and saying STOP FUCKING EATING!!! i can't! i need to live! heh.

anyway. rambling aside, in short: good entry. alli bean approves, as if that matters.

take care.
