Picoult is amazing...although her latest 'Nineteen Minutes' was a disappointment...I found Austen amazing...particularly as I'd been avoiding her for years on the basis that 'Claasics' are no good...
Can understand both...I've only just started the second trilogy...and keep having to put books and games away for revision purposes...so haven't got very far...I found the first trilogy very, very interesting...and although I greatly disliked Covenant it was a genious ploy on his part, as he goes completely against the stereotypical hero...he's almost an anti hero...which meant that however much I wanted to slap him (or castrate him) I also wanted to keep reading...
Terry Goodkind is another brilliant author - Wizards First Rule, Stone of Tears, Blood of the Fold, Temple of the Winds, Soul of the Fire, Faith of the Fallen, Naked Empire, Chainfire, Phantom (so far in that series)...a bit long winded on occasions but an amazing plot line, very good characterisations and some of the monologues that main characters make are exceptional...
There's several more I could mention...but as this is already turning into an essay...I won't...
