Rocky had surgery yesterday to remove a mass on his neck. We had requested that they try doing it with a local, but he fought them too much. Since they had to put him under, we had them go ahead and clean his teeth. By the time Art was able to go pick him up, he was more than ready to be home.
He seems to be doing okay now. He has a liquid pain killer we have to give him twice a day for 5 days. He has a bald spot on his neck, and the spot where they removed the mass has been stitched up. We have to watch it to make sure it isn't red or swollen. He's not supposed to lick it, but it's in an area he couldn't get to if he tried. I'm more worried about him scratching it once it starts healing before the stitches come out and when the hair starts to come in. He also has a bald spot on each front leg where they had to give him the IV and fluids. Have to make sure he doesn't chew those. He doesn't have much of an appetite, but he is eating a little and drinking a lot. The hardest part is giving him his pills. It takes both of us now because we want to be careful not to aggravate the surgery site.
He's not running around and playing with Oliver and Boris just yet, but I'm sure he will be soon.
