Falling into the Abyss

LJ is not letting me put this beind the cut. I apologize...

I definitely didn't love Abyss. I only watched the episode once last night- usually I rewatch SV after SPN. Putting aside the fact that it was ALL ABOUT CHLOE, I just feel so bad for Clark. I don't know if Chloe's memory erasure is going to last, but as long as it does, Clark is pretty much all alone. Oliver knows his secret (sort of), but when it comes to Clark's..."that" he wants to stay out of it. Lana knows his secret, but she's only going to be around for a little while.

"No man is an island," but it kind of feels like Clark has become one. If they continue with Chloe not knowing Clark's secret, I wonder if Lois is going to find out at some point? That way, only his wife-to-be will know his secret? Clark looked so sad when Chloe made the comment about him needing help from Jimmy to set up the chairs.

I don't understand how erasing Chloe's memory of her finding out Clark's secret, erases all of her knowledge of his abilities and background. By the way, when they were talking about that, I wish they had mentioned Alicia. Shouldn't Chloe have countless other memories of seeing Clark use his abilities and save her life, etc...? What about her Dark Thursday memory when Clark stops that car that flies through the DP window? They didn't show that part of her memory in last night's episode, so are we supposed to believe that it didn't happen or something? It's kind of confusing. What about when Chloe followed Clark to his Fortress and he super-sped her to a hospital in the Arctic?

If Brainiac had gone back in time and changed the events of the night that Chloe saw Clark catch the car, then I could more believably see why she wouldn't know any of the rest of the stuff about Clark. It woud have changed the whole timeline of their lives. But just erasing one memory? I don't get it. I guess we're probably not supposed to think too hard about it though...

I thought that the flashback with Young!Chloe and Young!Clark was totally cute. I think they did a good casting job. I was prepared to hate it and I think they did a nice job with it.
I think that scene was a lot shorter than the sides made it seem, but oh well. The two actors probably really were around 14 years old, which is unusual. Tom was 23 or 24 when he was playing a 14 year old and Allison was probably 18 or 19.

I also liked Clark's interactions with Jor-El. Clark was totally confident and self-assured and bascially demanded respect and to be treated like a man. Also, he wasn't shouting as loud as he normally does. I liked his little talk to a passed out Chloe at the Fortress too. I thought Tom did an excellent job with that. I also thought it was an important moment when Clark called Jor-el, "Father." I think it's a nice touch that he always calls Jonathan his "dad" and Jor-el his "father."

The whole thing with Davis- him being in love with Chloe doesn't really interest me. I can't believe that Chloe let him kiss her. And where did Chloe get a scooter/moped thing from all the sudden? What happened to her Yaris? Did the product placement contract expire? As recent as Committed, she had a car because it was towed away when she was missing. Whatever...

Next week- Lana's back! Clark and Lois either kiss or almost kiss! Chloe and Jimmy get married. :-( Doomsday appears!

Also on K-Site was a link to an interview with Sam Witwer. My favorite line from the interview: "I really don't want to play him like a douchebag."
