I was so sleepy when I crossposted that last entry about what I'm thankful for, I completely forgot to add a paragraph for LJ people! There are just a few friends that are active or semi-active on this good old site anymore, but I'm so grateful for them, too.
I love getting to see little peeks, literally, into
42itous's life and work. She's been a very dedicated quiltmaker recently, despite being a mother to a young infant! I'd love to see more pictures of her daughter, I guess I have to beg her for the link to her photo account.
I had my Grand Autumn Adventure very early in the autumn, all thanks to
doompuppy and
foxglovedt, both of whom I am very eager to see again. Whenever their extremely busy academic schedules allow, so I assume Winter Break. They're both old friends who I'm growing close to again, and I'm really thrilled about that. There's something so soothing about hanging out with people who know most of your fundamental stories already.
The same can be said for the lovely
brynndragon, who is very firmly in the category of "people I will absolutely do the TT-over-Skype thing with someday". Were it not for distance and all the annoyance that comes with it, I think we would've been extremely close friends the entire time we've known each other. I mean, just put aside her brilliant wit and far more eloquent knowledge of magic, she's got this amazing healer/mystic/scientist/doctor mind that's been trained in the art of Eastern medicine. I just learn so much from talking to her . . . Tiger did too. He brought up the Meillard effect last night, which she taught us when we visited her. I can't explain it as well as Wikipedia, but basically, when you sear food, chaos happens. That's why no sear or caramelization tastes the same way twice!
And finally,
gcuvier, whom I've only met once but nevertheless has taught me so much. I realized the depths of how much I continue to use her as a role model when I began dating Tiger and immediately started calling him "my sweet boy". I absolutely wanna be gcuvier when I grow up. And if I do manage it, I'll be an amazing independent woman with serious cooking, survival and creation skills!
