The fight...the battle. We debated about whether to come to Angel's little destructo-festival Los Angeles 04'.
We had learned from the Coven in Devon that a thrall of demons would invade the streets. We also found out that it wasn't an apocalypse that was ought and that it wasn't truly an apocalypse. I couldn't tell you how to define an apocalypse, but demons, thousands of them crawling all over the street like Jedi warriors sounded to me like an apocalypse.
According to the coven in Devon, this wasn't an apocalypse. It was going to be a revenge scenario. They predicted that many humans in Los Angeles and beyond would die, but that these demons would scatter and eventually be killed or at least neutralized by American Soldiers.
I doubted that, but it seemed cool enough to me, but Giles had the question of the hour when he asked them with Xander, Anya and I there with him. He wondered who the demons were avenging and they told him...uh...told us.
Angel.
Angel, Spike, Pryce and the others were doing something to destroy the evil in Los Angeles and it would bring out all of these demons. Giles immediately gasped and swore Angel's name. But, I kinda said that he was trying to eliminate evil and if a bunch of demons came from it, then when they were all killed, Angel would have saved Los Angeles, which everyone knows is the most evil city in the world now that Sunnydale is gone.
I thought that we should mobilize. Xander was with Giles in cursing Angel's vamPIRE name, but Anya was with me. Anya was always with me lately. Ever since I got back from Rome, she noticed the manly change in me. I had gone from about 78% manly to full 100% manly after my experiences in Rome. I still couldn't kill a vampire alone, but I was fully manly.
As it turned out, when Willow, Kennedy and the girls that were with them in South America and especially, when Buffy, Faith and most of the girls heard about this...they wanted to be there too. It was the biggest of evil and where else would slayers be but in the thick of things? Salyers, I've learned are so much cooler then James Bond, even Timothy Dalton's 007...are way cooler then Luke Skywalker or Spiderman and even Superman. Give them a battle and they are there and though Giles was against it all in favor of our worldwide teamed patrols, we loaded up for Los Angeles.
Los Angeles. Ohura, Los Angeles. The destruction left after the battle left me looking around from the ground, shocked. Anya was next to me all sore and Dawn was up with some boy. Melissa was trying to help some tall and uber-masculine soldier guy. Kennedy and Wood were still alive, as were that Gunn guy, Pryce, the worst Watcher in history and Faith. Buffy and Spike were finally able to talk again and more demons were coming around the corner. We had to get the bodies inside.
Crying, whimpering, Anya helped me to my feet and rushed to Xander, dragging him in. Me, I took Giles, who looked beaten and obviously...obviously dead...but he still didn't look as bad as Xander did. Giles was heavy and I had trouble getting him into the hotel next to the warehouse, while Anya, tears pouring from her eyes, had already dragged Xander to.
As I struggled, tears pouring from my eyes and mixing with the Black Rain that had to be blacker then it was in the Michael Douglas movie...the black rain falling from the sky; I saw that Dawn and the boy were bringing Willow into another part of the hotel. Poor Kennedy, I couldn't help but think as I closed the door to the safety of this hotel.
Poor everybody. I looked at Anya hovering over Xander, who died heroically like Jack Dawson in Totanic trying to save evryone else..trying to save Willow and Anya in one move and instead lost his own life.
I propped Giles on some circular blue chair, straining and crying at the same time as I looked over at Anya, hoping that her eyes would finally meet mine.
